FOTD: A Perky Hawaiian Flower

Perky is the second to last of the Fafi paint pots I have left to try out. When I was done with this look, the colors reminded me of some of the most beautiful flowers found all around the island - tropical and breathtaking. I almost felt the urge to hop into one of my sarongs to completely authenticate the look!

We spent the evening gallivanting with some friends that were in town on vacation where we ended up stopping by the mall to eat ice cream at Farrell's, an ice cream parlor located in central O'ahu. With birthday sirens going off in the background, it was entertaining for the tykes AND the friends we had with us!

Heading to the second floor of the mall before closing, my brotherly friend Jack checks out a store "conveniently" located next door to MAC. I actually wasn't going to stop in but saw Summer, the makeup artist that is always so kind to help me. To get a compliment from a MAC makeup artist on my own makeup application is complete euphoria. So I got a dose of euphoria from Summer, but what sent me over the top was for her to say that the colors looked "fresh" when it was actually 7 hours old!

Ok ladies and gents... If I can pass one thing on to enhance the color vibrancy in your looks, it is in the MAC paint pot and a lightly moisturized brush for application. If you have a paint pot that is close to the lightest or main color you'll be expressing on your lid, then you are in for a money shot. Only have one paint pot? No need to worry, just pack your color on in small sections.

So the weekend is half started. Anyone feeling the Sunday blues already? I do, I do!! *raises hand*

Aloha,
Mrs. Lynne

This is very pretty! The only color I have is that you used is the perky paintpot so I can't steal it...yet LOL!
Enjoy your Sunday mama.

I love it! Looks so gorgeous!! Where in Oahu do you live? :) I've never went to Farrell's yet but I definately want to go now!

I have another question to ask of you. Did you ever get your makeup done at MAC for like prom or a special occasion? I booked an appointment there & the guy said something about 60 dollars? Is the makeover itself around 60 or do I have to purchase some of their products too? What is the dealio. Haha. Thanks in advance! <3

Ooh, pretty! I really like this and you're right - it does look tropical.

Have a great weekend!

It's already Monday here :(

mayaari Hi love! I think so too. It also shows just how accurate you need to be in the micro photos. I'm kind of irked that the closed eye is blurred, lol.

How are you doing sis? Please tell me you're off today!

Shawnta Hi mommy! I guess you needs to be hauling some colors, eh? Hah. You know, I've had Samoan Silk FOREVER and this is the first time I've broken it out since I first bought it. I initially bought it as a transition color, which it works well for next to Soft Brown e/s, but thought, what the hey! But I'm really liking Neutral Pink (N collection) as a blender. It's subtle on our skin and is just really pretty.

How is your Sunday going thus far?

Christy Hey girl! I'm on the leeward side of the island. Farrell's is in Pearlridge downstairs by Price Busters. It's really neat there and they even have a $42 or something sundae that you can split between 10 people!! My friend actually wanted to get that for himself but we had just eaten, lol.

And I have not gone to MAC to get my makeup done for a special occasion - I normally will just do it myself. I was in there when girls were getting done up for Winter Formal and it's very pretty. As for the $60, I'm not to sure about it. I remember when I was at a MAC in Macy's that they said I could get my makeup done for any event but didn't mention anything about the $60. I don't think they're supposed to charge. Normally a makeover will lead you to buy products anyways, but I've never ran across them saying there is a charge for the service. Try calling the store and just inquiring. Sorry that I don't have the answer for you.

When will you be getting your makeup done?

missjaclynrose Thanks twin! Knotts Berry Farm is definitely a place for the kiddos. Hubbo and I went there back when we used to live in CA and we were outta there by noon-ish, lol.

And good for you to be so committed to working out. I applaud you hun!

Have fun sis! Hugs.

Mandie Hi Mandie! Thank you kindly for the compliment. I'm glad it could inspire you :) I hope you'll share how your rendition turns out.

Ren I should have, huh?? Good call. I even have the perfect flower hair ornament whose color would have matched perfectly!! Oh well, next time.

How are you doing love? Back to normal from the jetlag?

Divine Blackness Thanks girl!

Seymone Thank you, thank you mams!

Julie Mahalo Julie and also for the weekend wishings. Ooh, Monday, huh? That must mean you're back in school. Well, at least your week is over before ours - LUCKY!

Randie Hey you! Thank you for the compliment :) My weekend is definitely going by too fast :( How is yours so far?

Jackie said...

WOW. i LOVE this look :] so simple but pretty. have you tried using the paint pots on it's own? i've gotten compliments when using layin' low and girl friendly (or was it perky) by themselves - more than i usually get when i put more effort into it... but then again, sometimes people tell me that i have on too much make up. so maybe that's why? but those PP's from the fafi line are just soo lovely!

what effect does mixing moisturizer and PP's have? what's the difference?

do you sometimes find it hard to blend the PP's evenly when using a 242/252 brush? because i do. sometimes i use my 217 to blend.

have you tried the make up for ever flash color? they're creamy and somewhat like the prep+prime from mac but come in a VARIETY of bright, vibrant colors. http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P170543&categoryId=C13402

wow, lots of questions! it's okay if you don't have time! i understand! have a nice day! :]

This looks BEUATIFUL! I love it. The colors remind me of a sunset, especially the way it blends out into the purple.

I've never been to Farrell's. I checked out the website and there's one in Windward mall. So I guess I will be going there to check it out when I'm back on the islands.

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

eikcaj Thanks for the love girl :)

I haven't tried wearing paint pots alone as an eyeshadow if that's what you're asking. I prefer to use it as a color enhancing base rather than an eyeshadow because of the finish and because to me it's like wearing liquid foundation without setting it. I think I have a fear that if the outside layer exposed to the air isn't dry, that it just makes it more prone to wearing out faster. Call me crazy, lol.

Because paint pots alone have a sticky texture when applying them to the lid, I dip my brush in a tiny bit of moisturizer to make the p/p a tad more emollient to work with. But definitely not too much so as not to create a creasing base. And because of the extra moisturizer, it seems to enhance the color of the shadows just a bit more than paint pots alone because it allows the e/s to stick a bit better.

Because I solely use the p/p as a color enhancing base, I don't need to blend it as much. But I can tell from using a 242 for application, that the 242 is probably going to be a bit harder in blending the edges out. I would probably try dipping a 217 in the p/p to blend the edges or just a regular e/s. Haven't tried it but that's where I'd start :)

MUFE has some really great products. I don't own any but they look amazing I heard that color payoff is fantastic.

Anyhow, I hope I did answer your questions. If not, you know exactly where to catch me :) Have a great start to your week eikcaj!

sassychix Thank you sassychix! Are you looking forward to Heatherette??

yummy411 Hey girl! I can't wait to see your rendition of the look. You can probably even whip out your white liner for pizazz!!

Krystle Thanks girl. I don't know how long ago they opened Farrell's but its a nice place. We didn't eat in the actual dining area but in the grab and go area since we didn't want to wait for a table. But you can hear the commotion going on in the next room. Can you believe they have a $40 something sundae? Of course you can split it between 10 people, but whoa!! Hah.

How was your weekend? Do you plan on coming back anytime soon?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Lani Hey Lani! Thank you for the lovely compliment. How is your Monday going so far?

Lisa I suggest you get it hun. It also works great as a blender aside from a lid color, which is actually why I bought it to begin with, lol.

Bliss You don't Bliss?? OMG, you have to go and get yourself a couple!! They are the greatest!

Nessa Aww, sis... I miss you too! Rea and Pandora are such lovely colors. I think Rea is a bit more wearable on your skin compared to mine though. How are you doing sis?

Chris Thanks sis!! Hugs!

Xuanie Hey Xuanie. Thank you :) I never realized that Samoa Silk is this peachy. It is my new love. You should definitely check it out next time you're at the store. It also works well as a blender, which is the main reason I got it in the first place.

How's your week going so far?

Scandalous Beauty Thank you girl! I really appreciate it :)

I just visited your blog and I love the looks you've posted! Working for MAC must be a great experience :)

Coming from your experience, what would you say is your favorite tip to give anyone starting out in makeup and for those a bit more experienced to not forget about?

slvrlips You bet hun! I think you would look absolutely stunning with this on. And I have no doubt that your rendition would be AMAZING!!

How is your week going so far?

soFresh & soPink Hi soFresh & soPink! It's nice to finally meet you :) Thank you dearly for the kind compliments and the endearing encouragement. I really appreciate it!

What colors do you find yourself wearing most often? Are you a purplish, bluish, naturalish kind of gal? I know I can't help myself when it comes to purple, hah.

Hope you're having a great week so far and hope to hear from you more often :) Take care.

na said...

Lynne, this looks ssssooo good on you! Your blending is flawless. :)

Last time I got complimented by an MA, she had liquid liner eyebrows and unblended eyeshadow. :\ I guess it was a compliment? Haha.

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Emilee OMG Emilee! Liquid liner for eyebrows? I've got some images running through my mind, hah. Was that recently?

SFxSP said...

Hi Lynne, I've got tons of brown/neutral colors, but I do find myself always wearing something pinkish/purple. I've tried doing other colors such as green eyeshadow, but I haven't found the perfect paintpot or color as my base. My greens always come out looking so washed. =( Do you have any tips or suggestions? I'm always up for trying something new! And...Thanks for the warm welcome!

na said...

It was about...3 weeks ago? I think liquid liner eyebrows are definitely an acquired look, and not many people can pull it off. :X

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Rouaa Hello Rouaa! Thank you for the compliment hun :)

Did you get your products in yet? If you did, what's the verdict? Find a shade combination that works out?

soFresh & soPink Hi soFresh & soPink! You bet girl :) Always love new faces around here!

What color is your skin tone, if you don't mind me asking? And which green(s) are you having difficulty with? This will help me give you a better suggestion to make it be more presentable based on my experience with greens :)

Emilee Hi love. Yes! Talk about an acquired look! I don't think I've ever seen anyone with liquid liner eyebrows before. Did it even look decent or is it exactly how I'm imagining it? Black or really dark brown liquid liner (most likely a brush tip) in somewhat of a boxy form. Typing that out just gave me shivers! LOL.

Mrs. Lynne nope. I got my money back and made an order via paypal. Now I'm waiting for my order. ordered 2 LHK and och flat top also. The order can take about a month to show up! :(

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Oh Rouaa. The anticipation must be KILLING YOU!! Lol. I hate waiting which is why I can never go all natural in my products. I'm a must have kind of person and I like knowing I can impulse the purchases. Such a bad habit, I know, lol!

How is your week going hun? What's weather like in Sweden?

Anonymous said...

Mrs. Lynne yeah it really is! I'm counting the days. It's been almost 8 days now! LOL! hahaha... I love impulse shopping! And I really want my kit now now now! LOL. I forgot to tell you that i bought a sample kit also. I took one sample kit with my other kit. ans then i ordered a second sample kit with only buttered tan in it, in different formulas. Hope I don't have to pay taxet. :S haha...

Well... it's the beginning of spring here. So the sun is shining (not now. it's 04.14 a.m here) and the days has been longer. Feels wonderful! It's very grey and dark in winter here so it feels great to get some light! :D

http://rouaa.blogg.se/images/ah_1204660538.jpg

this is how winter can look like here in south Sweden :D I took that pic about 3 years ago. We didn't have any snow this year. I'm greatful! Haha :D
It's almost Easter and the weather used to be grey and rainy, but now it seems to be better. Global warming, right? ;)

How is it in Hawaii (you're lucky! haha)?

Take care and have a great weekend!

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

That's good Rouaa!! You might as well get your monies worth and order what you can especially since it takes FOREVER AND A DAY(!) to get to you.

I'm glad the weather is doing well there. That picture you sent is breathtaking! Oh, I actually like snow. Hubbo and I spent one winter snowboarding every week in Tahoe. That was really fun. Although, I don't know if I can live IN snow.

And living in paradise and having gorgeous weather is a blessing. Although, there are some days when it's just tooo tropical and humid. And that means sticky :(

Anyhow, I know you'll key me in on when your stuff arrives and your final verdict :) I can't wait and I'm crossing my fingers and toes that it comes soon!

Have a great weekend as well girl!

Anonymous said...

Mrs. Lynne so true!!

Yeah well we are in south Sweden so we get snow like 3 days/year or so. The summer here is VERY hot, even if it's hard to think that Sweden would have that hot days. But the summer in Malmö is actually wonderful!

It snowed like hell the day before yesterday (Monday here). It was like this stormy weather with a whole lot of snow. My friend and I felt like we were going get blown away or so. It was like 25 meters/second. Haha. And we were out to drink some hot choclate! hahaha.

Btw... Look how the weater was like a few days ago: http://rouaa.blogg.se/1205689635_fr_tv_timmar_sen.html#comment

The rainbow was outside our window! We live on the 7th floor so it was wonderful to see! :D

That finger crossing of yours seems to be working!!! I got my stuff from EDM this week! That was fast! Took a week and 3 days or so.

I mixed two shades. What do you thing? Sandy medium turned red on me so I mixed Winged butter with some Golden Medium. i don't know if it's a tiny bit too light. Got Buttered tan in my test kit so i will try it later.

here it is: http://rouaa.blogg.se/1205914403_grdagens_fotd.html#comment

I have the chit chat blush on in the smaller pic. I took a bit too much so the camera ill show it. haha.

Btw... the Peach concealer from EDM is W O N D E R F U L!!!!
I love it!

And I did this swatch of EDM blushes. Thought of you when I did it! Haha :D

Here it is:

Have a great week hun!

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hey Rouaa.

I'm not fond of hot weather. I get heat strokes so anytime it's too hot and I can't breath the warm air, I panic then off to a cool room I need to be. That or to the hospital, hah.

That rainbow is so gorgeous! I love rainbows. When I first moved here, I saw my first FULL rainbow. In California we had rainbow sometimes, but only parts of them. Over here, you see them from end to end and they are the most gorgeous thing to see.

Honestly girl, in your pictures, it seems to be very natural looking! But then, I can't see your neck to compare the face/neck transition. But on it's own, it really does seem like you've found your match! And it's nice and glowy too! Did you find out which formula you liked? Like Intensive? I'm also curious as to how Buttered Tan would work on you.

OMG, those swatches are sooo nice! Thank you for sharing them with me. Now you got me lemming those, oy! They all look so pretty. Oh boy Rouaa. Now I won't be able to sleep, thanks! :P Lol.

Take care my dear! I shall hear from you soon :)

Anonymous said...

Haha I want the weather to be hot, when it's not. then when it's summer I get cranky. hahaha. :D

Love the rainbow! it's kinda hard to see the beginning and the end sometimes here becuase of all the buildings, but it's so gorgeous!

I will take a pic with my neck showing and show you later. maybe tomorrow!! And I will do the "foundation test" with the buttered tan tomorrow also. have you heard of it?

I mixed ½ Golden Medium Intensive, 1/4 Winged Butter Intensive and 1/4 winged butter original glo :D

Btw... IF you need to use the swatches you are welcome to! I think Chit chat, Photo album and All smiles would look great on you!
You can always order the custom kit wit the small jars ;)
haha.. i want even more now so it's kinda hard to sleep here. And I tell Mike all the time what i wanna buy. Hahaha...

take care you to and have a wonderfull Easter, if you celereate that ;)!

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hey Rouaa!

I'm totally cranky when it's overly humid. And if I have allergies and start sneezing, then I'm just flat out pissed, lol.

"Foundation test"? The only one I know of is putting it on the jawline to see if it matches. Is that what you're referring to?

I think what you had on was a very close match. Like I said, very natural looking :)

Thank you for letting me know that I can use the swatches. I will try to remember to put that in a post. I've been so behind and absent-minded lately but would definitely like to use them. If I forget, then just remind me, lol.

Mike must be thinking 'this crazy girl', lol. I know that's what Hubbo thinks of me sometimes.

We will have a fun Easter. We're actually taking the kids to an Easter Egg Hunt tomorrow morning. Do you have any plans?

Anonymous said...

Hello Mrs. Lynne :D

No I was talking about the one in EDM's site. Here is the link:

https://www.everydayminerals.com/forum/index.php?topic=930.0

That helped me a lot! I think that I should mix some of my recent mix with some Buttered Tan. And then try it on. I did the foundation test on Buttered tan, but it turned aout to be a bit too dark and orangy. Hm...

use them whenever you want to. I will remind you later :p haha.

yeah poor Mike. He rolls his eyes at me when I talk about make-up. hahahaha...

Actually we have no plans at all. We went to my mom's house today. my sisters and their familys was there also. i't Mother's Day in Middle East so we celebreated our mom. :D
And for the weekend... We will slack off and chill out! hahaha :D
We have no kids so we can leep and wake up when we want :D

Tell me how that Egg Hunt turns out! :D

Wow, Mother's Day already? That's cool. I bet your mom was very happy to see you all. I'm asking for a traincase this Mother's Day ;)

Guess what! That egg hunt we were supposed to do was the day before! I thought it was on Saturday but it was Friday morning. Bummer because I was really looking forward to it. So we painted eggs and hid them instead :P

Hope your week is off to a great start so far. How's the EDM quest coming?
