My Work: Amie Dazzles In Earthtones!

I just want to express my appreciation for everyone's comments and emails in response to my moving post. Your caring hearts are really helping me through this and I love all the support you guys continue to give. I wish we weren't spread out all over the world because you are all a collaborative bunch and I know we'd have so much fun in the real. So rather than getting my things together for the move (um... I'm taking a break, hah), I've wisely chosen to post instead!

In this post, I will be sharing with you another round of my work in action. We all know that putting makeup on those that are similar in skin tone to us is like a general level of comfort, so I decided to venture outside the box to my fair-skinned lovelies.

Allow me to introduce to you my makeup victim for this assignment, Amie! I've known Amie going on nearly half a year now, and she has always been a pleasure to work with. So when it came time to playing with makeup, I knew we'd have just as fun!

I chose to do Earthtones on Amie to not only compliment the summery white, orange, and brown dress she was wearing but to address her gorgeously aqua-blue eyes.

Here is what was used to achieve Amie's look:

(all MAC unless otherwise stated)

FACE

Camellia Rose Skin Smoothing Primer (187SE)
L'Oreal Bare Naturale Gentle Mineral Concealer in Light/Medium (194SE)
CoverGirl Clean Pressed Powder (182)
Serenely Beauty Powder Blush (apples - 128)

Eversun Beauty Powder Blush (169)
FIX+ (to set)

EYES

UDPP
Indianwood p/p (lid - 242)
Goldmine e/s (lid, inner lower lashline - 239, 219)
NYX Golden Orange e/s (outer lid - 239)
Ochre Style e/s (crease - 222)
A Little Folie e/s (outer V, outer lower lashline - 222, 219)

LIPS
NYX B52
J. Lynne FX Gloss in Hilary

Isn't she gorgeous and aren't her eyes just absolutely stunning? I'm so jealous. The closest I'll ever get to aqua-blue eyes is through Freshlook contacts, hah! And even at that, they still won't look as great as Amie's.

Do you have blue eyes or have you done makeup on someone who has blue eyes? What color combination did you come up with?

Aloha,
Mrs. Lynne

FOTD: Something Orange

I was asked by MakeupFix reader Lorie, to devise a look using orange. She had bought MAC Off The Radar pigment from the Rushmetal Collection and since I didn't have that, your girl did some improvising.

MAC Off The Radar pigment is described as "warm orange with gold sparkle" and NYX Chrome Eyeshadow in Orange, seemed to qualify as an excellent dupe.

I'll admit that I was not too impressed with the results, but I surprisingly received a lot of compliments on it so I'll let you be the judge!

Want to replicate the look on yourself? Here's how to do it!

Brushes You'll Need:

  1. MAC 252 (or 242)
  2. MAC 239
  3. MAC 222 (or 224)
  4. MAC 219
  5. MAC 208
  6. MAC 217
Eye Products You'll Need:
  1. Painterly p/p
  2. NYX Chrome Eyeshadow in Orange (or MAC Off The Radar p/m)
  3. Clue e/s
  4. Bell-Bottom Blue p/m
  5. Shroom e/s (highlighter of your choice)
  6. Beige-ing s/s
  7. Blacktrack f/l
  8. Graphblack Technakohl
How To Get The Look:
  1. Using a firm bristle brush (MAC 252), apply Painterly p/p to lids. I chose to use Painterly p/p in this instance because I didn't feel like I needed to enhance the orange appeal.
  2. Place NYX Chrome Eyeshadow in Orange all over lid (MAC 239).
  3. Next, take Clue e/s and blend the edges of NYX Chrome Eyeshadow in Orange (MAC 222).
  4. Apply Bell-Bottom Blue p/m to the outer 3rd of the lid (MAC 239). Concentrating on the outer most portion of the lid, gradually fade it into the Orange.
  5. Add a thin layer of Clue e/s over Bell-Bottom Blue p/m (MAC 217).
  6. Deepen the outer crease with Bell-Bottom Blue p/m (MAC 219).
  7. Apply Beige-ing s/s to lower lashline. This will serve as a base for the eyeshadows.
  8. Line lower lashline with Clue e/s (MAC 219), then outer lower lashline with Bell-Bottom Blue p/m (MAC 219).
  9. Line upper lashline with Blacktrack f/l (MAC 208) and waterline with Graphblack Technakohl.
  10. Curl your lashes and add your favorite mascara!
I didn't have a chance to take pictures with lipstick on since I was headed out the door and wanted to give smootches to the tykes without the embarrassing mess. But I ended up pairing the look with NYX B52 and a bit of Bare Slimshine to keep it neutral.

Can you see yourself experimenting with orange for fun?

Aloha,
Mrs. Lynne

FOTD: NYX Haul in Action

So yesterday I bought a new NYX Trio and Golden Orange single eyeshadow. I immediately gravitated towards a purple trio, but then a FOTD done by a gal on Specktra popped into my mind. All I remembered was she had an orange and green combo. I thought to myself, "well, I don't have an orange eyeshadow... and if I did, then I could have used it in my Snowkei inspired EOTN instead of the yellow. I should get one!" As you can read, I created a tangent on my own thought yet still was able to justify the need to make a cosmetics purchase. And what do you know? There just happened to be an orange and green trio! Thank you my cosmetics angel for loving me :))))) You can't really make out the green because of my skin tone, but trust me, it's there.

Anyhow, after checking out the orange included, I came to the conclusion that it was a more subtle shade than what I was looking for, which is why I bought the single eyeshadow.

Btw, how's the holiday shopping coming along for you folks? Can I just let you folks know how much I hate wrapping presents that don't fit into any regular boxes and that are shaped all weird! It makes the perfectionist very bitter.

Ok, blah, blah, blah... here are the results :)

Mrs. Lynne
