Hey y'all!
So, let's talk about the blog and the lack thereof lately. I was doing good when I first started work because I had NOTHING to do and had some pictures to do some blogging with. Using my work time effectively - bad, I know. Whoa... who put Meebo there?!? Hah. I've been aiming to edit my pictures at night after the tykes go to sleep so that I can just port them with me with I go to work, but that just hasn't been happening. Needless to say, when we say "night, night" around here, so do I, lol!
One thing I've been dedicating some time to lately has been Baby Tyke's 1st Birthday! Yah folks! He'll be one next month (*tear*) and I'm trying to plan his party. Thank goodness I have help now that I'm back in CA because this is just beyond me to try and collaborate everything without going nuts.
Another thing that's been happening is I've paired up with a dear friend of mine whom I've known since middle school and we're taking our love for makeup and beauty to a professional level. We've each been available for events and such but are now at the point where we know that this is something we each want to do professionally. We've got a few events in the works for next year and I'm just excited to really have fun with something I enjoy doing. YAY!
Ok.. so back to the blog. My pictures are piling up in my camera because I haven't made the time to transfer them to my laptop. *Laptop Update* It's fixed (aside from the occassional loose adapter that like to suck my battery dry in the matter of 485.3409583 nanoseconds). But aside that slight glitch, it is slower than a hungover turtle even after being reformatted! Let's just say that when I load photoshop or download my photos, I have to walk away and do something so I'm not left going delirious as I watch each part of the screen "unroll" into place. Imagine my pain in formatting my photos ON PHOTOSHOP... ugh. Frustrating? Aw, hell yah! New laptop in the near future? Magic 8-Ball says "ask later".
I'm asking Hubbo to get me a copy of photoshop so that I can do some blogging business at my work computer since it runs much faster than le turtle dell. Running into some problems there currently but I hope that I can get that situated this week. We'll see.

Site News: I'm Going, Going... Back, Back... To Cali, Cali!!
In my last post, I briefly mentioned that a "whirlwind of events" has taken place. And although it honestly feels like an understatement to describe exactly what has happened over a months time, things have been sooo excessively chaotic that your girl hasn't even mustered up the strength to play with makeup. *grin* And you guys know that makeup can definitely perk my mood up. But when it doesn't, you know something has definitely gone down. I haven't even fathomed the energy to pack the tykes and stroll into a MAC store or near a MAC counter to see the newest collection releases, let alone get swatches (although I'm sure my wallet isn't complaining in that respect, lol)!
Now, I won't get into details about everything (because it would be MORE than enough eyesore for any one person to handle not to mention I don't believe it's necessary for worldwide display) but Hubbo and I have decided to relocate our ohana back to California, where we're originally from. Sadly, that means I will have to give up the fantastic tropical weather, 10-minute drives to clear beach waters, my new love for FatBoys (local food joint), and aloha spirit for dry weather allergies and smog. Ok, it's not all that bad moving back to the Bay Area (then again, allergies are no walk in the park for Hubs and I) buuut, I will gain a luxurious supply of restaurants to choose from (which I dearly missed when I moved to the islands) and FREE online shipping (no more "only for the contiguous US" nonsense - yee!)!.
On the brighter side of it all, things do happen for a reason. I believe the turn that our lives has taken over the past few weeks is bittersweet, and know that even through the depth of this decision to move back was not an easy one to come by (good gosh, we're moving AGAIN!), with time and faith, we will do fine. Plus, it'll be nice for the tykes to have my friends' kids to play/grow up with and I'll have more willing models at hand! Hah.
I want to take a moment to send out a sincere apology to my loyal readers who have come to love MakeupFix.net and take out a piece of their day to read my random makeup entries. I know things have been more sporadic than ever lately, and I'm sorry I haven't been able to keep up with everything (swatches, reviews, blogrolls.. you name it!). I noticed myself starting to slowly backburner everything once Baby Tyke started to be more awake during the day and sticking him in the swing to knock out a post or read a blog or two, just isn't as conveniently user-friendly as it was when he was a newborn. Let's not even talk about where Big Tyke is during this time, lol!
But I do want to express my true appreciation for the support you all continue to give even though "life" has been rather demanding for all of us. And whether it's just checking in on me through email or a thoughtful comment on wondering where I've been, I love you all dearly for caring. And please, continue to hold me accountable! :)
I know you probably have some questions regarding our sudden decision to move, and even though I'm not comfortable broadcasting the situation in its entirety, I will say a few things just to alleviate any thoughts.
Why are you moving? Like I mentioned above, I am not comfortable broadcasting the situation publicly but trust me when I say that this bold move is something that just has to happen for the sake of our family being able to recover and move forward from what has occurred.
Are you worried about the move? I wouldn't necessarily say "worried" per se, more like "stressed", lol. How on Earth are we going to condense the essentials to 3 boxes? *scratches head* But with all that we've been through in the past 3 years (moving, getting married, having two kids, etc...), and now this sudden decision to move back, it is definitely nothing short of ordinary for us. More like... bring it on! Lol.
When are we leaving? Around the first half of August.
Are we getting rock fever? No. We love the island life and all that it brings to us but taking all the factors of our current situation into consideration, living here right now is just not the right time for us.
Will we ever return back to the island? I do hope one day that Hubbo and I can make Hawai'i our home again because this is where our hearts are. A blessing brought us here and I believe that another blessing will bring us back when the time is right. In between now and that day, we will definitely be visiting!
Will I still be maintaining the blog? Of course! But over the course of the next few months, things may continue to be sporadic as we try to reacquaint ourselves and settle in so please bare with me.
Will you continue to do product reviews, FOTDs, etc...? I most certainly will! There is definitely no shortage on post ideas however I do have to communicate to you all that my laptop is feeling (and looking!) rather ill. She's not functioning at her optimum performance which is another reason why the posts haven't been coming along as nicely as I'd like. She likes to play "Freeze" with me a lot and for one reason or another, I just haven't been in the mood to play. It more or less puts me into a different mood that makes me just frustrated to have to start over. You know when you leave a really well conveyed comment and for some reason it gets erased after you've entered the correct 1,039,903 letters for verification? Yah, that's what I'm dealing with here, lol. As soon as I upload my pictures, bam! She's playing freeze...
Will you still be answering emails and comments? I most absolutely will! I do read each comment and email as they come in. And even though I haven't been responding right away lately, I do get back to each one the best that I can. If your question needs an answer promptly, then please don't be shy to tell me so I can get back to you :)

Site News: Minor Design Change
Ever get the feeling that a little change is in order? Well, I did and decided to dress our lovely MakeupFix.net site in another outfit. I know she just had a new suit on earlier this year but I couldn't help but play around with her again!
Some things still need to be tinkered with, but what do y'all think of the gist so far? Yay? Nay?

Dark circles + screaming children + a trip to the ER earlier this week because of an anxiety attack = the MakeupFix Operator Error! It's just one of those weeks.
When the darn Blogger Dashboard asks you if you really want to delete 10+ widgets, you say "NOOO!"

Sorry, my truly devoted MakeupFixers. The site will be looking slightly overdosed on CSS until I can get the links back in working order. It will be lacking the organization but the "Categories" are still fighting the battle in case you need to look up anything :)

Site News: MakeupFix Going Under Construction
Hey my loyal MakeupFixers! The time has finally arrived and very shortly a new site look and feel will be presented. Perhaps some of you already took notice of the new brand stamp on the most recent FOTD. Not a glitch, but consider that a miniature tease of the big picture :)
So here's what's happening. MakeupFix.net will be unaccessible for 48 hours. The site will be down starting Thursday, March 6, 2008 and be up and running in new skin Saturday morning, March 8, 2008.
I realize that a couple days may seem like a daunting time, but to make sure the coding fits appropriately on what is already up and running, as I've only been running it on a test site, the extra time is necessary for the new widgets to play nice and make friends.
Thank you everyone for understanding, being patient and for the continued support... we'll see you soon!

Site News: MakeupFix Is Getting A Makeover!
Behind the scenes here at MakeupFix, I've been breaking out my webmaster skills and working some extra hours to develop a better site layout and incorporate a more user-friendly navigation for you folks. I'm so excited to share with you the end result and my hope is that it will help you, the readers, have better access to the information on here as you are the reason this blog keeps thriving in it's success. Which I cannot THANK YOU enough!
I will be unveiling soon, as I need to do some tidying up, but some things will just be an ongoing and on-growing process. But my main focus is that the information for the avid and loyal readers as well as new incoming readers are able to navigate through 100+ and GROWING posts with some sort of ease. If you've been a part of this amazing creation from the beginning, you're quite lucky you don't have much catching up to do, hah.
During the period prior to unveiling, I will be disabling the blog temporarily so you folks can't peek at the layout until it's completely ready. I will post the details beforehand of when the disabling will happen and for how long. This is a just a heads up since some of the readers called me out when I was incorporating my domain name and it was forwarding to a parked page, lol! I got your backs yo!
In other news, I realize that there are starting to be days between my posts as well as comment and email responses. Believe me that it's not because I don't have anything to blog about, that I'm hitting blogger's block, or that I'm purposely avoiding my audience. I have TONS to write on, just so little time to get them accomplished. The 4-monther is phasing a constantly changing schedule (could it be some teeth??) and energetic Big Tyke is well... energetic and definitely in the toddler years, hah!
But rest assured that offline, I'm very much active in formulating content for the blog: I have an excel spreadsheet made for the requests I've been getting as well as a standard college rule notebook to note my product reviews as the products are put through rigid trials and thoughts on post topics.
And as I'm patiently (!!!) waiting for a new laptop charger to be sent my way, I'm working off my bandaged-with-electrical-tape-laptop (no joke!!) with the disco-effected flickering screen of a battery who can't make up it's mind to stay on or off. Clearly, I'm trying to haul this bad boy to it's bitter end before I have to give it up and bring on a new technical member.
Thanks again folks for always being so patient with the requests and most importantly, for understanding that at times I literally have my hands tied but that I really do try my best to divide and conquer. Don't ever let that discourage you from contacting me or leaving comments, just know the reason behind my delays. You folks are the best and until the day that I can hire help (for the tykes! lol.) or do this for a living, it's only me versus y'all so I'll do my best :)
But hang tight with me folks. This ride is just getting started...
