My Work: Amie Dazzles In Earthtones!

I just want to express my appreciation for everyone's comments and emails in response to my moving post. Your caring hearts are really helping me through this and I love all the support you guys continue to give. I wish we weren't spread out all over the world because you are all a collaborative bunch and I know we'd have so much fun in the real. So rather than getting my things together for the move (um... I'm taking a break, hah), I've wisely chosen to post instead!

In this post, I will be sharing with you another round of my work in action. We all know that putting makeup on those that are similar in skin tone to us is like a general level of comfort, so I decided to venture outside the box to my fair-skinned lovelies.

Allow me to introduce to you my makeup victim for this assignment, Amie! I've known Amie going on nearly half a year now, and she has always been a pleasure to work with. So when it came time to playing with makeup, I knew we'd have just as fun!

I chose to do Earthtones on Amie to not only compliment the summery white, orange, and brown dress she was wearing but to address her gorgeously aqua-blue eyes.

Here is what was used to achieve Amie's look:

(all MAC unless otherwise stated)

FACE

Camellia Rose Skin Smoothing Primer (187SE)
L'Oreal Bare Naturale Gentle Mineral Concealer in Light/Medium (194SE)
CoverGirl Clean Pressed Powder (182)
Serenely Beauty Powder Blush (apples - 128)

Eversun Beauty Powder Blush (169)
FIX+ (to set)

EYES

UDPP
Indianwood p/p (lid - 242)
Goldmine e/s (lid, inner lower lashline - 239, 219)
NYX Golden Orange e/s (outer lid - 239)
Ochre Style e/s (crease - 222)
A Little Folie e/s (outer V, outer lower lashline - 222, 219)

LIPS
NYX B52
J. Lynne FX Gloss in Hilary

Isn't she gorgeous and aren't her eyes just absolutely stunning? I'm so jealous. The closest I'll ever get to aqua-blue eyes is through Freshlook contacts, hah! And even at that, they still won't look as great as Amie's.

Do you have blue eyes or have you done makeup on someone who has blue eyes? What color combination did you come up with?

Aloha,
Mrs. Lynne

My Work: Arianne Stays Cool Then Turns Up The Heat!

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of events, which is why the posts have been sporadic, so to get away from the chaos I took some time to do some portfolio work.

I was lucky enough to spend some time with Arianne, a co-worker of mine, who was willing to help me document some of my work for my makeup portfolio. This girl is already naturally gorgeous sans makeup and enhancing those features with a couple different looks was just tons of fun.

In this first look, I decided to play with her favorite color - green. For my tanner sisters out there that are still a bit hesitant on the thought of playing with greens, teals, and blues, this look is proof that even us brown honeys can pull off a daring color combo.

Greens compliment Arianne's skin nicely, which will explain why she loves the color so much. And with the island weather being rather good lately, keeping the colors cool just seemed suiting.

Here are the look details:

(all MAC unless otherwise stated)

FACE

Camellia Rose Skin Smoothing Primer (187SE)
Studio Finish Concealer NW35 (under eyes - ring finger)
Buff'd Light Foundation in Caramel (188)
Buff'd Setting Powder in Serecite (188)
Shy Beauty Beauty Powder Blush (169)

BROWS
STILA Eyebrow Set
(266)

EYES

UDPP
Delft p/p (lid - 242)
Chartreuse p/m (lid, inner lower lashline - 239, 219)
Parrot e/s (outer lid, outer lower lashline - 239, 219)
Ochre Style e/s (crease - 222)
Deep Truth e/s (outer v - 222, 219)
Shroom e/s (highlight - 239)

LIPS
NYX Champagne
J. Lynne FX Gloss in Hilary

In this second look, I decided to do a hot and spicy number with a smokey eye and some jaw-dropping red lips.

(all MAC unless otherwise stated)

FACE

Camellia Rose Skin Smoothing Primer (187SE)
Studio Finish Concealer NW35 (under eyes - ring finger)
Buff'd Light Foundation in Caramel (188)

Feeling Beauty Powder Blush (169)
Joyous Beauty Powder Blush (apples - 169)
Shadester Sculpt & Shape Duo (contour - 169)
Lightsweep Sculpt & Shade Duo (highlight above cheeks - 129)

BROWS
STILA Eyebrow Set
(266)

EYES

UDPP
Cash Flow p/p (lid - 242)
Electra e/s (lid, inner lower lashline - 239, 219)
Clue e/s (crease - 222)
Signed, Sealed e/s (outer lid - 222)
Carbon e/s (outer V, outer lower lashline - 222, 219)
Shroom e/s (highlight - 239)

LIPS
NYX Hebe
J. Lynne FX Gloss in Julianne

I really enjoyed both pieces although I have to say that I do love how the gold base of MAC Cash Flow paint pot peeped through the silver (MAC Electra) in the second look. Stunning in the real! Isn't she a doll?!?!

I hope everyone is having a great week so far. I have a couple more willing candidates booked to help showcase some talent so be sure to stay tuned for that!

Aloha,
Mrs. Lynne

My Work: Winterball 2007

Yesterday was my sister-in-law's Winterball in Waikiki - ok first, how cool is that?! I wish my highschool formals were in Hawai'i! I hardly ever do hair/makeup on anyone because I don't have many friends/family here to experiment with. So when I'm asked to do hair and/or makeup, I get super excited, hah. It really makes me feel honored, you know.

This year, I did both her hair and makeup and then did the makeup of one of her girlfriends. I'm kind of glad the makeovers were at a minimum because for her prom last year, I did hair AND makeup for 3 girls and that took me about 6 hours altogether and I worked right up to second the limo got there!
I didn't mind it at all because it's what I love doing, but there is definite pressure when you're running against the clock hoping that nothing goes wrong. Anyhow, click here to see the pictures of the girls from last year.

So this is what I was working with: my sister-in-law, Melissa, only wears concealer, mascara, and sometimes a bit of liner on a regular basis while her friend Keala wears no makeup at all. Melissa's dress was this gorgeous deep navy blue l so I thought a grayish smokey look with a hint of deep blue would go nicely especially since she's not much into bold colorful looks like yours truly. Keala's dress was a really nice earthy brown with gold so I immediately thought something more natural looking would suit her especially since she doesn't wear makeup in the first place. Both girls are really simple and touching up things like the lips requires a bit too much work so I decided to just omit that step. And I'm glad that I had "The Originals" at my disposal because I ended up using 4 out of the 7 I bought.

I forgot to take pictures of the girls' eyes at an angle like I usually do in my FOTDs. Here are the pictures and what I used.

Hope you folks are having one heck of a weekend and enjoying yourselves :))))

Aloha,
Mrs. Lynne
