Finally! A post with pictures! And not just any pictures... SOME MAKEUP PICTURES!

I'm just posting up some looks I did. Sorry they're not all full face shots. After the tykes knock out on the weekends, I just get the urge to get eye fancy and nothing else. I don't remember what I used in each one, but I have been using my 88-Piece Palette (Shimmer) and the 28-Piece Neutral Palette from Coastal Scents lately and well as my new boatload of MAC pigment samples. I'll try to recall the best I can.

#1

This is my normal everyday wear:

Buff'd Concealing Foundation in Caramel, STILA Brow Set, UDPP, MAC Painterly/Layin' Low Paint Pot, Maybelline's The Colossal Volum' Express Mascara, MAC blush, and a choice of NYX Lipstick (this one is Champagne - big hearts for this one!).

#2

MAC Cash Flow Paint Pot (base), MAC Golden Lemon Pigment (foiled on lid, inner lower lashline), Pink from CS Palette (outer lid, outer lower lashline), MAC Rose Pigment (crease), MAC Signed, Sealed (outer crease), MAC Carbon (outer crease), MAC Blacktrack Fluidline (upper lashline), MAC Graphblack Technakohl (waterline - not staying well anymore), Red Cherry lashes

#3

MAC Delft Paint Pot, Teal, Blue, and Lime Green from CS 88-Piece Palette.

#4

MAC Layin' Low Paint Pot (base), MAC Golden Lemon Pigment (lid, inner lower lashline), MAC Melon Pigment (outer lid, crease, middle lower lashline), Brown with gold shimmer from CS Neutral Palette (outer crease, outer lower lashline), Soft Black from CS Neutral Palette (outer crease, outer lower lashline), MAC Blacktrack Fluidline (upper, lower lashline, waterline)

#5

28-Piece Neutral Palette from CS - love, love, LOVE this palette!!

#6

MAC Rubenesque Paint Pot (base), Gold and Pink from CS 88-Piece Shimmer Palette (lid, outer lid, inner lower lashline), MAC Mauvement Pigment (crease, middle lower lashline), Dark Purple from CS 88-Piece Shimmer Palette (outer crease, outer lower lashline)

#7

This one is simple, simple, SIMPLE!!

MAC Layin' Low Paint Pot (base), MAC Club e/s (lid), muted brown and dark brown from CS Neutral Palette (crease, outer crease), NYX B52 Lipstick

#8

And last but not least... another CS Neutral Palette look. Can you tell I'm in love with this palette??? And the lips are courtesy of NYX B52 and NYX Mauve.

Same look under different lighting conditions!!

Hope you guys enjoyed the looks. You can tell which ones are the office looks since I don't have time to put eyeliner on, hah. If you need more details on one or want me to recreate the look but in a full face version, just let me know.

Happy Friday folks! We made it...

Aloha,
Mrs. Lynne

My Work: Amie Dazzles In Earthtones!

I just want to express my appreciation for everyone's comments and emails in response to my moving post. Your caring hearts are really helping me through this and I love all the support you guys continue to give. I wish we weren't spread out all over the world because you are all a collaborative bunch and I know we'd have so much fun in the real. So rather than getting my things together for the move (um... I'm taking a break, hah), I've wisely chosen to post instead!

In this post, I will be sharing with you another round of my work in action. We all know that putting makeup on those that are similar in skin tone to us is like a general level of comfort, so I decided to venture outside the box to my fair-skinned lovelies.

Allow me to introduce to you my makeup victim for this assignment, Amie! I've known Amie going on nearly half a year now, and she has always been a pleasure to work with. So when it came time to playing with makeup, I knew we'd have just as fun!

I chose to do Earthtones on Amie to not only compliment the summery white, orange, and brown dress she was wearing but to address her gorgeously aqua-blue eyes.

Here is what was used to achieve Amie's look:

(all MAC unless otherwise stated)

FACE

Camellia Rose Skin Smoothing Primer (187SE)
L'Oreal Bare Naturale Gentle Mineral Concealer in Light/Medium (194SE)
CoverGirl Clean Pressed Powder (182)
Serenely Beauty Powder Blush (apples - 128)

Eversun Beauty Powder Blush (169)
FIX+ (to set)

EYES

UDPP
Indianwood p/p (lid - 242)
Goldmine e/s (lid, inner lower lashline - 239, 219)
NYX Golden Orange e/s (outer lid - 239)
Ochre Style e/s (crease - 222)
A Little Folie e/s (outer V, outer lower lashline - 222, 219)

LIPS
NYX B52
J. Lynne FX Gloss in Hilary

Isn't she gorgeous and aren't her eyes just absolutely stunning? I'm so jealous. The closest I'll ever get to aqua-blue eyes is through Freshlook contacts, hah! And even at that, they still won't look as great as Amie's.

Do you have blue eyes or have you done makeup on someone who has blue eyes? What color combination did you come up with?

Aloha,
Mrs. Lynne

FOTD: Gold With a Hint of Gray

I think Gold and Gray make a stunning combination. I will try the color combination again in the near future to perhaps showcase the colors a bit better than what I've done here. I say "hint" of gray because in the pictures you can't really see it as well as in person. But it's there. Can you guess where without looking at the product list?

And can I just say how much I'm really enjoying the J.Lynne Gloss FX in Hilary? It sets any shade of lipstick wonderfully and adds a bit of class with some subtle and tasteful shimmer.

(all MAC unless otherwise stated)

FACE

Studio Finish Concealer NW35 (ring finger)
Buff'd Concealing Formula - Caramel (188)
Serenely Beauty Powder Blush (169)

BROWS
STILA Brow Set (266)

EYES

UDPP
Cash Flow p/p (lid - 242)
Goldmine e/s (inner lid - 239)
Old Gold p/m (middle lid - 239)
Clue e/s (outer lid - 239)
Ochre Style e/s (crease - 222)
A Little Folie e/s (outer crease - 222)
Daisy Chain e/s (highlight - 239)

Graphblack Technakohl (waterline)
Covergirl Lash Blast

LIPS
Bare Slimshine
(bottom)
NYX Violet Ray (dabbed on)
J.Lynne Gloss FX in Hilary (top - retractable lip brush)

Check out the precision on the retractable lip brush I bought the other day!

You've seen it and now you want it...

Brushes You'll Need:

  1. MAC 239
  2. MAC 242 (or 252)
  3. MAC 222 (or 224)
Eye Products You'll Need:
  1. Cash Flow p/p
  2. Goldmine e/s
  3. Old Gold p/m
  4. Clue e/s
  5. A Little Folie e/s
  6. Daisy Chain e/s
  7. Graphblack Technakohl
  8. Mascara
How To Get The Eyes:
  1. Use a firm bristle brush like the MAC 242 and apply Cash Flow p/p to the lids of your eyes. Hold the brush vertical with the bristle-end down, and apply the product in an upward manner. Blend out the edges to avoid any harsh lines.
  2. With an eyeshadow brush such as the MAC 239, pick up Goldmine e/s and add to the inner 1/3 of the lid.
  3. Then add Old Gold p/m to the middle of the lid using the same brush.
  4. Finish the outer lid with Clue e/s, again with the eyeshadow brush.
  5. Blend A Little Folie e/s into the entire crease but also adding a little more to the outer crease to add some depth. I use the MAC 222 blending brush for this because it's a bit firmer in application than a MAC 224.
  6. Highlight with Daisy Chain e/s.
  7. Add Graphblack Technakohl to the waterline.
  8. Curl eyelashes and add your favorite mascara!
I hope everyone in hanging tight until the week is over - 2 days AND COUNTING!! I'll be hanging out with the Sesame Street gang this Saturday since we're taking Big Tyke to go see Sesame Street Live. What are your plans?

Aloha,
Mrs. Lynne

FOTD: Old Gold Debuts A New Haircut!

If there is one MAC pigment that I've been wanting to try out, it's been Old Gold. I've seen many FOTDs using this tarnished gold pigment and could only wonder what it's powers were until I got to test it out firsthand. All I have to say is WHAT A BEAUTY! It has this antique sheen to it that just glistens no matter what angle. Gorgeous for earthtone looks and enough to get a little spicy with.

Here are the details of the look I did using MAC Old Gold Pigment:

(all MAC unless otherwise stated)

FACE
Monistat Chafing Relief Powder-Gel
Studio Finish Concealer NW35 (ring finger)
Buff'd Camel (188)
Eversun Beauty Powder Blush (129)

BROWS
STILA Brow Set (266)

EYES

UDPP
Indianwood p/p (lid - 252)
Old Gold pigment (lid - 239)
Daisychain e/s (inner crease - 222)
A Little Folie e/s (outer lid - 239, 222)
Shroom e/s (highlight - 239)
Signed, Sealed e/s (outer crease - 219)
Blacktrack f/l (upper lashline - 208)
Graphblack Technakokhl (waterline)
Covergirl Lash Blast

LIPS
NYX Dark Brown Lipliner Pencil
Bare Slimshine

Here's how you can get this Old Gold look!

Brushes You'll Need:

  1. MAC 252 (or 242)
  2. MAC 239
  3. MAC 222 (or 224)
  4. MAC 219
  5. MAC 208
Eye Products You'll Need:
  1. Indianwood p/p
  2. Old Gold p/m
  3. Daisychain e/s
  4. A Little Folie e/s
  5. Shroom e/s (or highlighter of your choice)
  6. Blacktrack f/l
  7. Graphblack Technakohl
How To Get The Eyes:
  1. With a firm bristle brush like the MAC 252 (or it's kid sister the MAC 242), apply Indianwood p/p to the lid blending out the edges.
  2. Using an eyeshadow brush such as the MAC 239, pick up some Old Gold p/m and apply over Indianwood p/p concentrating color on the inner parts of the lid and closer to the lashline.
  3. With a blending brush like the MAC 222, blend Daisychain e/s into the inner crease. This will soften any of the harsh Old Gold p/m in that area.
  4. Apply A Little Folie e/s with a MAC 239 to the outer 1/3 of the eyelid. Do this by placing the brush vertically, bristle-side down. Pull the color up towards the crease but concentrate the color near the lashline so as to naturally blend out the color.
  5. Using the MAC 222 again, pick up a bit of A Little Folie e/s and starting from the outer crease, blend into the crease to further blend the Old Gold p/m and A Little Folie e/s. This will eventually meet with the Daisychain e/s we blended in Step 3.
  6. Dot a pencil brush such as the MAC 219 into Signed, Sealed e/s only a couple times (you don't want to start with too much). Place the tip of the brush at the corner of the outer crease and draw a line towards the middle of the lid allowing the brush to follow the crease. This will create depth in the outer crease.
  7. Using the side of the MAC 219, blend the line out. Don't drag the color into the lid, but away so as to keep the lid color from becoming dark. Follow through with a blending brush to further blend out the line if needed.
  8. Highlight the brow bone with Shroom e/s and a MAC 239.
  9. Line the upper lashline with Blacktrack f/l and a MAC 208.
  10. Fill in the waterline with Graphblack Technakohl.
  11. Curl eyelashes and finish off with your choice of mascara.
And with some great Old Gold eyes ready to go, I continued on the excitement of the day and (finally!) went to go get my hair did! Split ends and grown out dye is a thing of the past. Thanks to my cousin who put her Cosmetology skills to work, I got a fantastic cut!

THANK YOU KATIE!!

Hope your makeup is holding up folks! Only a couple more days until another weekend...

Aloha,
Mrs. Lynne

FOTD: Mutiny Hits The Club

Speaking of club, it's been DAYS since I've been to one! That thought alone makes me really feel my age *sigh*

I bought Club e/s a while back because its duo-chromatic abilities are to die for. But sadly, it only gets used when I'm feeling the teals/greens. So consider this an ode to Club *clink*

Want to try it out?

Brushes You'll Need:

  1. MAC 252 (or 242)
  2. MAC 239
  3. MAC 222 (or 224)
  4. MAC 219
  5. MAC 208
Eye Products You'll Need:
  1. Moss Scape p/p
  2. Mutiny p/m
  3. Zonk Bleu! e/s
  4. Club e/s
  5. Juxt e/s
  6. Beige-ing s/s
  7. Blacktrack f/l
How To Get The Look:
  1. Using a MAC 252, cover lid with Moss Scape p/p.
  2. Apply Mutiny p/m over lid with MAC 239.
  3. On the outer part of the lid, add Clue e/s with MAC 239.
  4. Blend the crease using Zonk Bleu! e/s and a MAC 222.
  5. Using a pencil brush like the MAC 219, apply Juxt e/s to the inner tear ducts.
  6. Using Beige-ing s/s as a base for eyeshadows on the lower lashline, apply Mutiny p/m to the inner lower lashline and Club e/s to the outer lower lashline using the MAC 219.
  7. Line the upper lashline and waterline with Blacktrack f/l.
  8. Finish off by curling lashes and adding mascara.
Although the pictures don't show it, I ended up using Bare Slimshine for this look. When out of time, I turn to Bare. I'm so glad the Slimshines are a permanent line because they seriously are convenient!

Happy Thursday everyone!

Mrs. Lynne

FOTD: Girl Friendly Gone Smoky

Most looks are copped from some sort of inspiration. This piece of inspiration was courtesy of Angela who was eager to achieve the look. Deciding to take on the challenge, I did my best to recreate my own rendition of the masterpiece.

Of course, because of many facial differentials (and lighting) between the photo and I, I obviously look no where near as polished or smoky as the photo conveys nor do the colors represent themselves the same as they do on lighter skin. Nonetheless, I had fun challenging my inner artist to try and replicate it.

I did use Fafi's Girl Friendly paint pot in this, but Blackground or Painterly paint pot could have easily been substituted, as I just used it purely for a base rather than a color enhancing base. When it comes to really darkening the lashlines for smoky looks, I find that lining my eyes with pencil before placing shadow on the lid helps to give the eyes added intensity. Lining the eyes after eyeshadow is optional to even further the intensity; I opted not to line after in this look. Ok, truthfully I forgot :P

Mid-session, your motherly MAC-dicted friend here had to swing off course for Tykes control, which explains why I have slim creasing going on in the fourth photo below. Since I was unable to finish the look in a single session, my folds decided it was time to go on vacay and send the crease protectors home. Couldn't they at least babysit since they were going to have time off? Hah.

Happy Thursday everyone! Since makeup is all about inspiration, where do you get yours from?

Aloha,
Mrs. Lynne
