MAC Product Releases: Cool Heat Swatches = Bring Your Kids To Work Day!

When MAC releases new collections, to me that means it's "Bring Your Kids To Work Day", hah!

So, I kept an eye on the clock this morning to make sure I could get my swatching herd together and head to the mall before everyone else that has Fridays off (or decided to play hookie) swarmed the counters.

As I arrived at the mall and searched for a desirable parking spot, I was contemplating how to carry out my plan of attack. Go to Macys and swatch? Or go to the MAC store? Sometimes Macys counters don't receive their MAC promotional release displays the same time as the stores so it's really give or take.

After parking and loading up my swatching support team, I decided to go through Macys this time. Their counter setup is definitely brood-friendly. And since it was the 2nd day of the release and I could only hope that their displays were up and out (refer to the click-able picture below for my "buy me time" ammunition) because I didn't really want to think of the obstacles involved to trot on over to the MAC store. But lucky for me they were!

They are such troopers to endure my swatching journeys with me because as you can see by the looks on their faces, they're like "here we go... again", lol! Not to mention 2 minutes into the swatch, they both start yelling crazies *digs fingers into the pots faster* Hah.

I have to say that next to the MAC Neo-Sci Fi Collection (check out swatches here), the MAC Cool Heat Collection is one of the better lines that has come out this year. From the eyes to the lips, you can still flaunt a cool look no matter the temperatures this summer.

I really like the spectrum of eyeshadow colors. They all intertwine with each other and really allow you to make the gradient effect a thing of the past. Warm Chill swatches like Mood Ring from the Heatherette Trio 1 while Blue Flame reminds me of Deep Truth, in the pot and swatched. The subtle difference is the finish. Blue Flame is more metallic with pearl, while Deep Truth is just lightly frosted. The rest aside from Climate Blue look like they can dupe pretty well with the existing line of MAC eyeshadows but it is just perference on if you, for instance, want more teal in an eyeshadow than what's already in something like Shimmermoss e/s.

The slimshines are very pretty! There is definitely a color for everyone in here. They seem to be a bit more opaque in consistency in comparison to slimshines of the permanent line.

Overall, this collection really makes it hard to decide since everything seems to mesh together a little too well. So, what should you get? For the sake of uniqueness, I'd suggest Climate Blue e/s (if you are comfortable wearing a bold color like that) and Gentle Simmer, By Degrees, and Tropic Glow slimshines.

After fulfilling my duties as a product swatching mistress, I wanted to stop by the Longs close to the mall to see what their NYX selection was like. Sadly, there wasn't much to choose from unlike the one by my house.

BUT.... I did find me some flavor-filled Hello Kitty Marshmallows!

Would have been cute if the marshmallows were like Hello Kitty heads, huh?

Strawberry filling...

Mrs. Lynne says, "mmmm... well deserved"! Hah.

What did you get from the Cool Heat Collection? Were you moved by the choice of colors?

Aloha,
Mrs. Lynne

I am dyin' laughin' at the kiddies. I felt the exact same way when I went shopping with my Mom as a little girl. The memories.... Your swatches came out veryyyy nice and I'm thinkin' that the only thing I need from this collection is Climate Blue. Everything else seems far too dupe-able to me. But I do love the lippies. Haven't decided which ones I want yet but at the same time I'm not killin' myself to get to the store.

Besides I'm on make-up probation until July. *tear*

Hello Kitty candy!!! How darling! I want one!

Great swatches! BTW, your kids are too cute!

And I agree, the marshmallows would be better if it were shaped like Hello Kitty's head (mmm... mango!).

Aawwww, your little guys are too cute! :)

And yes, I love Cool Heat!

Ah, I`m with you on the trials and tribulations of shopping with a small child (at least I have only one, although he needs the attention of a whole troop).
So thank you for your dedication to swatch! Your swatches are always very good!

Hey Suzie Wuzie,

I've met quite a few of you gals that have to wait for MAC collections to release and I must say that you are all very patient. I don't know what I would do if I had to wait eons for a collection to release with swatches galore crowding the Internet. It would probably involve a huge tub of ice cream and hard-core rock music :)

When it does release, do you know what you'll be getting?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

I'm sooo on makeup probation also Divine Blackness. I kind of feel bad though because it takes me a good 5-10 minutes to swatch any given collection and the MAs are standing buy ready to claim their commission and I just push the stroller away, lol. Well, sometimes I'll buy something out of obligation but I really need to stick to my probation terms, hah.

The marshmallows are really good! I wonder if this is something that's on the mainland *scratches head*

HAHA! twinnie, Love the look on your boys' faces. Priceless. "AGAIN, MOMMY?" too cute.

I love your swatchin' stories.

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hi Jenna!

Thanks for stopping in and for teh lovely comments :)

I totally thought that the marshmallows were HK heads until I opened the package... what a bummer. BUT, they are still good :D

Have you gotten a chance to peep the MAC Cool Heat Collection yet?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

I want to see YOUR tykes Glosslizard! I'm sure someday we'll meet and our kids will play together and talk about how we met online, lol.

Are you guys doing anything this weekend?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Thanks Nell! It's sometimes is a little stressful going anywhere with small children but that's why I go swatching under the condition that if I can swatch, then I will. If they're wild, then forget it, lol!

How old is your little one?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

OMG Lydia!!! Go get it hun. That is definitely one of my favorites. It really stood out to me when I did the swatches.

Do you like any of the eyeshadows or are you not a blue/teal fan?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hey YellowFever.

A lot has definitely happened in a short amount of time since we moved to the island but everything has turned out so wonderfully. I'm just very thankful for the opportunities that have been granted to us :)

Come move here and have some tykes also (unless you have already) and we can let tykes romp while we get color crazy!! :D

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hi PeeChee,

Funny thing. I was going through my emails and ran across yours and was wondering how you were doing. And what do you know? You leave me a comment :D

I want to see your boys missy! I bet they're adorable.

I'm sure they're available in the Bay Area. I'm thinking in the asian grocers or something. Or maybe a Sanrio store?

I do that too when collections release - although it is harder since I'm there the day it releases. But I opt from buying anything nowadays. I figure if I really like it then I'll go back for it unless it's sold out. In the latter, then it wasn't meant to be, lol.

I hope you're having a great weekend so far hun. Much love from the Aloha state :)

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hey Nee,

The key for babies is to have multiple things since their attention span is small (hence, two distractions; three if you include my cell phone). For toddlers, you just have to know what your kid likes doing. For Big Tyke, he loves books and cars, not to mention that a snack-time was in order, hah.

Are you going to be getting anything from this collection?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

I'm glad you're enjoying them Twin Jackie! Hah. I can fax the tykes on over to you if you'd like ;) LOL!

Ummm, we went to see Kung Fu Panda, that's about as noteworthy as it gets this weekend! :)

I totally want to have our kids play together! I just need to get there! ;)

I LOVE THAT PICTURE OF YOUR KIDS! LOL, so cute :)

Ahh, Cool Heat. I think I'll be sitting out on this collection! I love looking at blues but I hate wearing them :(

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

My sister-in-law went to go see that last week too Glosslizard! She said it was really funny. I can't wait to see it either.

You either need to get here, or I need to get there, lol. Only an ocean away :)

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Good choice yummy411! I really like the teals/blues of the collection. I wasn't really in love with Climate Blue although the formulation was very soft but it was just that kind of blue that I would only make use of sparingly.

Hope you're enjoying the last of the weekend!

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

My kids will look back at this Nanzy, and confirm their belief that their mother is insane, lol! I see a little blackmail in my future :P HAHAH.

Have you tried those marshmallows yet? Their actually not too shabby :)

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hey Julie,

Blues are definitely a bold step in color choice. I think the colors they offer in this collection are really nicely picked, but I'm sure there are quite a few in your same shoes that don't like wearing them either. Well, at least your wallet's heart attack can wait until next time ;)

This is totally off topic, but are you out of school already?

Distinque said...

Thanks for the swatches! Those marshmellows are awesome, too bad we don't have a Shirokiya here

:) said...

hey lynne hmm actually no, I've never been a fan of MAC..don't hate me ok! lol jk

Shen said...

o my! i'm loving cool heat! why can't they be here as well??? i have to wait months and months here and we still don't have heatherette. :( bugger!

i told my boyfie that i'd proly be the same once we're married and have kids. he'd be like as long as you pick up the kids and not me, i'm good!

i'm liking those flavored hello kitty marshmallow! get me some! :) lol! j/k!

Cinthia Truong said...

LOL, the kids are so cute. Look at their adorable faces :)

I personally like this collection better than the neo-sci fi one. Thanks for the swatches.

Jaclyn Rose said...

HAHA! fax them over anytime! too bad you don't have girls, I'd soooo trade you. LOL, I always joke with my girlfriends that have daughters. I try to trade my two boys for their girls.

Your kids are adorable! It seems like you've perfected MAC trips with kids. :P

And I'm falling in love with Hello Kitty all over again. It would be cute to have it shaped like their heads. :)

aww the kids are cute! so I got Tropic glow. I plan on getting high 90s pretty soon, probably this weekend. I also really like the first 3 eyeshadows. I don't know what I wanna get yet though.

I'm really enjoying the Cool Heat collection! I think the blues work together to give the most beautiful watercolor effect. And I'm always happy to see more Slimshines!

Jnie said...

aww they are so cute!
thanks for the swatches, one of the better ones i've seen of cool heat

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hey Sis Distinque,

I actually got the marshmallows at Longs! Go check them out. They have those two flavors and Pineapple :D

Do you know what you'll be getting from Cool Heat?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

*gasp* Oh Nee!! Shame on you!

LOLLOLOL. I'm sooo kidding, girl. I'm a color freak so when I see spectrums upon spectrums of colors, I just lose it and can't think straight. And this isn't just towards MAC, it's just colors in general. I used to own all the Crayola crayon/marker sets just to own every color. Yah, call me weird :) Hah. Do you have any weird obsessions like that also?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Oy mahal Shen... that's a heartbreaker :/ MAC should know they're dealing with girls and our span of patience isn't that long, hah.

I tell you ma! I've become the super swatching mama with photos to prove my insanity, lol! I don't even know how I do it *shrugs*

I'll get you some HK Marshmallows if you get me some pastillas :D Oh, what are those milk candies that are semi-hard (you can easily break them in half) and shaped like a thin rectangle? Those are my favorites. Forgive me for not knowing the names.. I'm not good in representing, hah.

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hey eBeautyBlog,

Thanks for the comment on the kiddos, haha.

I think both collections are very doable. Neo-Sci Fi addresses the natural side of things while Cool Heat adds some spunk into it all. Did you get anything from the collection yet?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

I do the same thing too Sis Jackie! My girlfriend has 4 girls and come to think of it, she was supposed to trade me one of hers for my eldest. I'm going to have to see if that offer is still valid :P LOL!

Oh, I'd love to have a girl *dreamy sigh*

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Aww.. you're too sweet Sis Chris. I'm so glad you're my sister because we have some good genes going on ;) Hahhah. You know! :D

Oh girlie! The marshmallows are so good. When I saw them, I couldn't help but grab them and walk straight to the register, lol.

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hi Lei! How've you been hun?

I don't know about perfected, maybe more over preparing, lol!

And the heads would have been perfect. I don't know why it's not that way *scratches head*

So, what have you been up to lately girl?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Good choice giles22-atl! I love the shimmer in that color - it's devine. Now you'll be looking top notch for those baseball games ;) Holla! WATCH OUT :D

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

I love it too Toya! And you hit the description right on the money - "watercolor effect". That is perfectly said!

And Slimshines should be considered a traincase staple!! Whatcha think? :)

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Aww.. thanks for you lovely comment Jnie! You're so sweet :)

What will you be getting from the collection? Have you decided yet?
