FOTD: It's A Little Bright In Here

When I look at the colors I used in this FOTD, it reminds me of a parakeet because of the bright colors of their feathers. Well, actually. Now that I think about it, I felt and looked like Mimi from The Drew Carey Show :/ It's been a long time since I've worn something this "loud" and I was definitely feeling weird wearing it out in public - yah, call me crazy to even take it outside the front door, but I did!

It didn't come out as good as I wanted it to, but I was running out of time to be more innovative with the colors I had already laid down.

Here are the details...

(all MAC unless otherwise stated)

FACE

Studio Finish Concealer NW35 (ring finger)
Buff'd Concealing Formula - Camel (188)

BROWS
STILA Brow Set (266)

EYES

UDPP
Layin' Low p/p (lid - 252)
Chrome Yellow e/s (inner lid - 239)
Steamy e/s (middle lid - 239)
Blue Jewel e/s (outer lid - 239)
Freshwater e/s (crease - 222)
Deep Truth e/s (outer crease - 222)
Daisy Chain e/s (highlight - 239)

Blacktrack f/l (upper lashline - 209)
Graphblack Technakohl (waterline)
Covergirl Lash Blast

LIPS
Bare Slimshine

I personally don't necessarily think this look is all that inspiring, but here's how to get it in case you want to play around with your colors:

Brushes You'll Need:

  1. MAC 239
  2. MAC 252 (or 242)
  3. MAC 222 (or 224)
  4. MAC 209 (or 208)
Eye Products You'll Need:
  1. Chrome Yellow e/s
  2. Steamy e/s
  3. Jewel Blue e/s
  4. Freshwater e/s
  5. Deep Truth e/s
  6. Daisy Chain e/s (or highlighter of your choice)
  7. Blacktrack f/l
  8. Graphblack Technakohl
  9. Mascara
How To Get The Eyes:
  1. Use a firm bristle brush like the MAC 252 and apply Layin' Low p/p to your eyelids. Layin' Low p/p is from the Fafi Collection but Painterly p/p will work just as well. I chose to have just a flesh colored base for this look.
  2. With an eyeshadow brush such as the MAC 239, place Chrome Yellow e/s on the inner lid depositing color near the lashline and pulling the color towards the crease. This allows for maximum color to adhere closer to the eye and also making blending in the crease easier.
  3. With the same brush, put Steamy e/s in the middle of the lid right next to Chrome Yellow e/s. Sweep the color into the Chrome Yellow e/s. This automatically blends the two together.
  4. Now grab some Jewel Blue e/s and fill in the outer lid.
  5. I used a MAC 222 to blend Freshwater into the crease. Starting from the outer lid and working my way to the inner lid, I firmly grip the brush and with gentle circular motions, blend the color in.
  6. With only a couple of taps of the MAC 222 into Deep Truth e/s, you'll have more than enough to deepen the outer crease. Make sure the eyeshadow is tapped in at the very tips of the bristles and only tap a couple times into the pan at a time. It's easier to go back and get more color to build, than to have taken too much to begin with.
  7. Highlight your brow bone at any time. I used MAC Daisy Chain e/s with the MAC 239 and blend downward into the crease.
  8. Line the top lashline with Blacktrack f/l and a MAC 209 brush. I was trying a pointed-tip brush instead of my HG MAC 208 angle brush just to see if I had a change of heart on it - nope!
  9. Add Graphblack Technakohl to the waterline.
  10. Curl eyelashes and add your favorite mascara!
Although it's warm here on the island, it looks groggy outside. I hope you have clear skies outside your window today :)

Aloha,
Mrs. Lynne

LOLOL. funny how that works. :) anyways, you look hot and i really love your new hair. short hair looks SO MUCH better on you than on me. LOL. :)

Very pretty! It does remind me of a parakeet, but in a very good way! Mimi? Never! :D

I actually wore a very similar look today only I used Warming Trend, Gulf Stream and Blue Flame with Brule on the brow bone!

Aww.. thanks for the comment Askmewhats. I'm glad you're finding it inspiring. That cheers me up about the whole look :)

How is your week going so far there on your island?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Thanks as always Sis Chris :) I think the yellow was just too bright for me. It was just asking for EVERYONE to stare at me, hah.

And thanks for the comment on the hair. I have another surprise to show y'all in posts to come ;) Oooh, suspense... dun, dun, dun.

And hey! Where are your boxy smiley faces?? Those are sooo cute :] Heh.

And I LOVE the Concealer formula! I watched it cover my non-concealed blemishes right before my eyes! That had me wide eyed and amazed.

Are you going to get a full-size?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Thanks Anonymous.

I think the yellow definitely made everyone's eyes gravitate to my lids because I could see peoples eyes looking above my eye and checking out the bird I had on them, lol! It made me feel kind of weird though to have people just stare at them and not look me in the eyes. I think I'm going to lay off the bold yellow for a while again, haha.

Do you wear bold colors often, if at all?

You are too kind Glosslizard :)

You know, when I went to swatch Cool Heat, the MA was wearing the exact same combo as yours! I can imagine how gorgeous it looked on you! Such pretty choices in colors.

That is actually where I got the inspiration for this piece. My co-worker requested the three colors, but the layout I had in mind I got from the MA earlier that day.

Inspiration makes the makeup world go 'round ;)

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Aww.. thanks Sis Shen! Chrome Yellow is definitely a one-of-a-kind yellow. Do you know what you'd like to pair with it already?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Thank you Sis Ren. For some reason, it went on a lot smoother this time than it normally does. Could be the paint pot or something but it seems softer to apply for me. Do you have this color also?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Good for you J! For some reason, I've been shying away from bright colors. I'll have to bring them back though because I do miss being more creative in that outlet.

Do you have a favorite color combo that you like using?
