MAC Product Releases: MAC Tendertone Swatches

MAC Cosmetics releases yet another Limited Edition Collection and you know what that means! I'm ready with my tykes to get them swatches! I got rather lucky this time around through since my mother-in-law was off and had to go to the mall to make a payment. I still rolled them to the store with me while she walked around Macy's, but at least I had comfort in knowing someone could roll them around if I needed the extra time.

*wipes forehead*

PRICE
For $14.50 USD, you can own this lip conditioning item. Not necessarily out-of-price in comparison to most of MAC's lip products but definitely not budget friendly for those who are used to $0.99 Bonnie Bells.

PACKAGING
The MAC Tendertones are packaged in jars exactly like those of the MAC Paint Pot. This will probably not sit well with those who prefer tubes for sanitation purposes, but with these gems getting snatched up left and right, I think some have made peace with the packaging presentation.

SMELL/TASTE
For those that need their smell and taste senses satisfied, you'll be happy to know that these MAC Tendertones are served with strawberry-kiwi flavoring. It's almost like having a Jolly Rancher that conditions and glossifies your lips also! Mmmm... tasty.

PRODUCT CONSISTENCY
These Tendertones are far more emollient than the consistency of other lip balms that come to mind. It truly is like lipgloss in a jar or in MAC terms, similar to that of the MAC Lipgelee. Knowing that though, I'm wondering if it would have been better to offer this product in a tube since it does seem like it can get pretty messy if you don't own a lip brush.

THE EXPERIENCE
MAC Tendertones are really conditioning for the lips. I felt my lips being pampered big time with that Shea Butter. Combine that with a bit of color and a smooth application and I could easily sass up lipstick anytime. The strawberry-kiwi flavoring is a nice touch to the product. It really is a treat for the senses. I'm not one to maximize the benefit of flavored lip products since I'm not point on in licking my lips, but for the sake of review, it tasted really good. Think of Jolly Ranches for le puckers!

WHAT I LIKE

  • The dual action of the product; balm and gloss in one!
  • That some of the colors have pearl in them.
  • The strawberry-kiwi flavoring is delicioso.
  • It contains Shea Butter - I love products with Shea Butter.
  • SPF protection.
WHAT I DISLIKE
  • The packaging. Although I love those jars, I actually would rather have this product available in a tube because of the consistency. Getting more on my fingers than what needs to be or always having a lip brush on hand for application doesn't necessarily have me doing cartwheels. Ok, I'm lazy! Hah.
OVERALL
I can see why the collection was very likeable the first time around. The product is exactly like that of a gloss yet contains Shea Butter to help condition the lips and SPF 12 to protect. It glides easily on the lips with it's non-sticky formula and with different tints to choose from, I love the option on wearing it alone to directly nurture the lips or to top off my favorite lipstick for an added glossy sheen. Majority of the colors are made with either red, gold, or white pearl which adds extra sass that you'd only find in traditional lipglosses, not lip balms.

Should you run out and get one? If you don't have a lip conditioning product and like the thought of having a 2-in-1 lip balm/gloss product, then yes. Other than that, you probably already have some good lipgloss picks in your collection that could use some love.

Have you had a chance to peep out the MAC Tendertones yet?

Aloha,
Mrs. Lynne

I love Tendertones, especially their strawberry banana starburst smell! I picked up Pucker and Sweet Tooth. I think they work better than TLCs.

twinnie, i am in love with the smell of these gems. I got Hush Hush and Sweet & Nice. And you're right about the packaging. Especially with long fake nails, hard to get product out without using a brush! That's why I only picked out 2 and not any more than that.

you have 2 kiddos, right? i always hear about you taking them with you to the mac store. hehe. i know you have a boy but what's your other one? do you have another boy too or a girl?

Hi Krystle,

I love the smell also! Plus, it's tasty so what a treat, huh?

I like the fact that they have that lipgloss edge over the TLCs. But on a daily basis, I prefer my TLCs for kiddy smoothes. I'm a smotherer, hah!

How are you doing girl? How's the weather back home?

Hey Twin!!

Great haulage, woman. The smell/taste is so yummy! I definitely had fun licking my lips with these, lol.

Hope all is well with you my dear. Miss you :)

Hey Spankedelic,

Yes, ma'am. I do have me two carry-ons :) And they are both boys. [Translation: Please pray for me!] LOL. But I would like a girl, though. It'd be nice to have a makeup buddy. And Hubbo is definitely in the market for one. He really wants to walk her down the aisle on her wedding day - aww!

Are kiddos in your future plans as well? If so, do you have a preference as to what you'd like to have?

oh I really want to get some of these!

Sweet Tooth, Honey Bare or Pucker look good! I'll probably go pick up at least one when I get paid!

I think every woman wants a girl because they have such cute clothes these days. Did you know they have two-piece bikinis? I always go, "Look, Joey! Isn't that so cute?" And he gives me that look. Lol. They have little flare jeans and all this cute stuff! I don't think I'd mind if I had a boy or girl as long as he/she was healthy. are you gonna try for another one or wait a while? how old are your kids?

thanks buttercup =)
i haven't tried these before. how do they compare to our beloved lip conditioner.. sounds a bit more runny, but just as luxe on our lips?

I actually skipped Tendertones, never really paid attention to them when they were permanent and I hate sticky sweet glosses, but I must admit the sheer tint of color makes a nice balm and at least it will last a lifetime!

Hi there giles22-atl.

I think you will enjoy the Tendertones. They feel wonderful on the lips and its nice knowing that they have a bit of a tint so you can wear them on their own or on lipstick and still get the benefits of the balm. Do let me know which one you pick up, ok?

Happy Tuesday to you love!

I know EXACTLY what you're talking about spankedelic! The little girls these days are little divas in training. I went shopping for my friend who has 3 (now 4) girls and I had so much fun looking for little outfits.

Healthy children is always a good thing and top priority over what sex ends up coming out. I mean, not like you can change what you get anyways, right? Lol.

Hubbo and I have talked about having more kids and our initial goal was 4 kids (yikes, I know!). But after having the 2, I think he's still hunting for the girl. He says "you better hope the next one is a girl or else we'll have to try one more time". Four is obviously the max but we'll think more on expanding the brood once he's getting closer to finishing school. I still want the tykes to be close in age. My boys right now are 7 months (already!!) and the oldest just turned 2 at the beginning of February. Time sure does fly!!

Hope you're having a great Tuesday so far, hun :) And you tell Joey that once he has a "little princess" that he'll know exactly why we girls go ga-ga over the little clothes, lol!! ;)

You're on the money yummy411! The Tendertones is very soothing to the lips, tastes great, and the longevity of the product is just as great as the LC. But I think I'll enjoy the very last bit of my $14 (or whatever) LC until I buy more lip balming products.

It really is a personal preference, but at the consistency that the Tendertones is at, I'd rather have it in a tube. 'Specially since it has that gloss factor.

I agree with you Sis Nessa. I'm not really into tasting my lip stuff but I'll say that at least for a Strawberry-Kiwi flavor, it was at least tasty and not so artificial like some are, you know?

Hope your week is going well Sis! Great to hear from you :)

Boy Askmewhats! I'm surprise you're still even on the computer, hah. I'd ban myself from further frustration.

"Dear MAC, please help my readers outside the states refrain from physical harm by launching all collections simultaneously. Thanks!" :D Hahaha.

Hang in there girl!

Thanks for the swatches!!

I think I'll buy Sweet tooth... not sure yet. just bought Dazzleglass Love Alert (pics on my blog) and I think I'll buy at least one more. haha. I'm too addicted. :D

Aloha!

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hey Rouaa,

I like the look of the Dazzleglass but not the sticky texture. But the Tendertones are really nice. I just wish they were in tubes instead.

Hope your week is off to a great start so far :D
