FOTD: Fancy Mint Purple

When I hauled my first MAC eyeshadows, amongst them were Deep Truth, Nocturnelle, Steamy, Cranberry, and Goldmine. I believe it was fate that brought us together because no matter what other new colors I add to my makeup family, I will find myself comfortably reaching for those in a hot second.

Of my original picks, Steamy and Nocturnelle (again!) make their way to the FOTD cuts.

Brushes You'll Need:

  1. MAC 252 (or 242)
  2. MAC 239
  3. MAC 222 (or 224)
  4. MAC 219
Eye Products You'll Need:
  1. Jardin Aires pigment
  2. Steamy e/s
  3. Nocturnelle e/s
  4. Carbon e/s
  5. Shroom e/s (or highlighter of your choice)
  6. Beige-ing s/s
  7. Blacktrack f/l
  8. Graphblack Technakohl
Additional Items:
  1. MAC FIX+ for foiling
How To Get The Look:
  1. Foil Jardin Aires pigment with FIX+ over the lid (MAC 252).
  2. Smooth Steamy e/s over Jardin Aires pigment (MAC 239).
  3. Blend the Steamy e/s edges with Jardin Aires pigment in the crease (MAC 222).
  4. Add Nocturnelle e/s to the outer lid (MAC 239).
  5. Follow through by blending Nocturnelle e/s into the crease concentrating it in the outer half (MAC 222).
  6. Starting from the very outer corner of the lid, create more depth with Carbon e/s by drawing a line only to 1/3 of the outer crease and blending it outwards (MAC 219).
  7. Apply Beige-ing s/s to lower lashline. Will act as a base for eyeshadow.
  8. Line the entire lower lashline with Nocturnelle e/s and just the outer lower lashline with Carbon e/s (MAC 219).
  9. Highlight at any moment during this process then finish the look off by lining eyes (upper lashline and waterline) pairing it with false eyelashes (optional), a plum blush, and nude lips.

OMG, your lips are the same color as your face.
Me: It's called a nude lip, hun.
Hubbo: OMG, your lips are the same color as your face.

LOL. You gotta love the support system.

I hope everyone is enjoying their soon-to-be weekend. And hopefully those tax checks are arriving just in time for some hard earned spending! Woot-woot.

Hi Mrs Lynne :)
Great eyes, as usual. I like how you use a dark shade to add just the right depth at the outer corner, I always blend too much outwards and end up looking cat-eyed even if I dont want to :(

And I'm totally with u on the support system grouse :) Hubby believes lips should be RED or nothing, lolz!

wow i love those lashes...and why do i still not have steamy? this is going to be my next back to mac :) lol, and your hubby is too funny

I love this look and I have all the colors so I can't wait to try it out. For some reason I have a tough time with Steamy though...it's not very pigmented on me and is hard to blend.

My husband is the same as yours! He says the most hilarious things about makeup.

Krystle said...

LOL ur husband is so funny. I love it when you do purple looks because it makes me want to bust out my purples and play! Hands down, this is my favorite purple look you have created.

Jaclyn Rose said...

this is gorgeous! :) you know, i don't like how silver eyeshadow looks on me, but you ROCK IT like no other. :) oh and i LOVE those lashes! i HAVE to get me some NYX lashes, for real. LOL. :)

the eyes look fab! if I'm not too lazy this weekend, I'm going to try and re-create a look I saw in a mag long, loooong ago! It'll be fun for sure if I ever get around to it! LOL

PS - Hubbo is too funny!

haha that's so funny, classic "hubbo" it's funny cuz sally likes it when i wear that color, and that is the only one he really comments on haha.

i love this look on you, it's absolutely gorgeous! have you tried using individual lashes? those look more natural and are easier to apply because you put them directly onto your lashes. think of it as an eyelash extension. they are so much fun too.

Cute look Lynne! I'm wearing something similar but more on the matte side today...then I cleaned the house! ha ha. I wore a red lip the other day and my hubby was in shock. He's so used to me with a light lip. "its...just...bright" was his remark along with hand gestures. It was too funny. Have a great weekend!!

(g)ezebel said...

niiiice!! those are NYX lashes?? wow, they look just like ardell's tyra's and prob'ly a lot less costly!! i gotta go to target now.

aw i love the lashes! i've never tried fake ones, but I would really like to!

Mukho said...

hey Mrs. Lynne, its me again! And I'm tagging you to play the "six quirks" game :) You can chek out the rulz at my blog. Have fun!

Jenn said...

this look is so elegant and classy! throw in the pearl choker and LBD and you'll look like a modern day Audrey Hepburn! so pretty!

are those lashes heavy? i can't stop blinking my eyes whenever i wear falsies (just to feel their "weight"! lol!!) :D

Ooh, I'm loving the lashes! They were literally the first thing that I noticed, followed by your lips-that-are-the-same-color-as-your-face, lol.

Boys/men are funny, aren't they? Bf will go with me to the MAC store and keep bugging me as to why I need another pink lipgloss or don't I already have a blue eyeshadow.

Ooh I love this look. Its very different. The purple and green look great together.

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hi Mukho,

Thanks for the compliments :)

For the depth in the outer corner, I dip the tip of my brush very lightly in my choice of dark color (normally pure black). A tiny bit goes a long way and I just blend it out with the side of the brush.

LOL! Aren't the men so fascinating when it comes to makeup? I love the innocence of it all, hah.

How has your week been so far?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hey Ren,

You must get on Steamy girl! It is one of my favorites. Mine actually dropped on the floor so it's more like Steamy pigment (lol!) but it works even better that way, hah.

Does the bf say stuff like that at all to you on certain looks?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hey Cindy,

I'm very surprised that Steamy isn't as pigmented for you. It's one of my brightest in the bunch. Hmmm... It actually was pretty pigmented prior, but my Steamy now is in pieces so it's in pigment-type form, hah. I don't encourage your go and start dropping your makeup but I'm actually glad this one dropped, lol!

Are the men just the funniest thing when it comes to makeup?! What's the funniest thing your husband has said?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Awww.. that's sweet Krystle :) I can't deny myself purples. They are just my go to color.

Hope you're having a great Thursday so far! How are things in the bay?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Heya Jackie!

Thanks hun for the compliments :) You work them purples amazingly well also!

Hope you're having a great week homie!

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

I love the lashes Chris! The NYX ones are very sturdy on the band and they have so many cute styles. Me gusta!

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hi Nilla Cookie,

Does the bf say stuff like that to you also about any of the looks you create? They are just too funny, huh? LOL.

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hey chi,

Individual lashes definitely are easier when it comes to application. I actually have more preference to the whole lash though because of the different styles available. You know me, the crazier they are the more attracted I am, lol.

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

You've got me cracking up PeeChee! I have a feeling I know the hand gestures you speak of. I get them also. I don't know if your hubby is technical savvy like Hubbo is (Geek as I call it), but I guess we're even when it comes to me trying to say his laptop looks cute ;)

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hi (g). These are the NYX babies. They are really good but I think they cost just as much as Ardell's. They are pretty sturdy though and I'm sure they'd feel right at home in your eyelash collection :)

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hey giles22-atl,

Putting on fake eyelashes is one thing, but the end results are so pretty. You should definitely give it a try one of these days.

Happy Thursday to ya!

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hey Mukho,

I actually did the Quirks game already here. But looks like I'll have to think of another 6 quirks, hah.

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Whoa crazychick! You just complimented me next to Audrey Hepburn. Now I'll have to find myself my pearl choker and matching dress to pay a tribute to the fabulous Breakfast at Tiffany's girl :)

The lashes are probably a little heavy. I mean, you can tell they're on for sure. But I do love that the band on these are very sturdy unlike those cheap flimsy ones I've bought before. Oooh, and I was looking for ZA at my grocery store and they don't have that brand. They have Hebe (?) that I thought was the ZA display. My bad, lol.

What brand in falsies do you buy?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Heya Emilee,

Aren't those men so funny?!? LOLOL. At least your bf will go with you into the MAC store. Hubbo will either take the tots for (another!) stroll around the shops or only come in if I've forgotten my debit card. Other than that, I think he's already accepted the face value of my irrational makeup purchasing decisions ;)

Does your bf say anything when you take pictures of your makeup for FOTDs and such?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hi Georgia!

Thanks for the compliments :)

Do you have a favorite combo in eyeshadow that you like to wear?

(g)ezebel said...

did you just get that monroe? i *just* noticed it. wait, maybe i noticed it before and it slipped my mind? anyway, i love the monroe on you!!!

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hi (g),

I've had that Monroe for over 2 years now. I just don't wear it all the time. I always take it out when I wash my face and most of the time forget to put it back in.

AND... I totally thought about you when I was using these lashes! I felt all (g)'d up myself ;)

Jamie said...

Those lashes are TO DIE!! I love the whole look ... but the lashes seriously make it!
