MAC Product Releases: Strobe 2008

MAC released a new collection, Strobe, in stores Thursday; a line dedicated to 'brightening your look'. Brought on the line was a liquid version of their already available Strobe Cream known as Strobe Liquid. And for a limited time only are the Tinted Lip Conditioners enriched with UVA/UVB SPF 15. If you're looking to incorporate luminosity into your looks, then this collection is something worth checking out.

The play of pearlescent light, the feeling of euphoria, the instant illumination
that brightens and enlightens three ways: strobe cream, the richest, sheerest blend
of soft-focus diffusers for the face and neck; strobe liquid, instant radiance in fluid, light-diffusion form with iridescent pigment; and tinted lip conditioner stick SPF15 with strobe pearl, broad spectrum protection, colour and moisture-soft allure. Use under or over colours and textures to glow on and on and on…

Three enlightened ways to brighten your look: Strobe Cream, our original blend of sheer soft-focus diffusers; Strobe Liquid, instant radiance in fluid, light-diffusion form; and for lips, Tinted Lip Conditioner Stick SPF 15 with strobe pearl.

  • Strobe Cream ($29.50 USD) - The ultimate quick fix for the skin. Super-powered with potent botanicals; de-snoozes, de-stresses, moistens, freshens and boosts the look of dull, flat or tired-looking skin with a fully loaded vitamin zap and a mega dose of green tea. Brightens and clarifies with iridescent particles and antioxidants. Enhances the effects of light on all skin and in all lighting conditions from sunlight to spotlight.
  • Strobe Liquid ($29.50 USD) - Blending soft-focus diffusers with iridescent pigments, this ultra-fluid strobe formula produces a soft, radiant light on the skin, reducing the appearance of skin imperfections by providing a natural-looking glow. Refreshing. Spreads on smoothly and absorbs quickly. Leaves the skin looking healthier and more radiant. A lighter-weight addition to the popular Strobe Cream.
  • Tinted Lip Conditioner Stick SPF 15 ($14.50 USD)- Formulated with strobe pearl, this luxurious lip conditioner combines sheer soft-light-quenched colour with broad spectrum UVA/UVB SPF 15 protection and moisture.

Strobe Kiss Sheer coral with a golden strobe pearl
Strobe Rays
Light caramel with golden red strobe pearl
Strobe Blossom
Light blue/pink with red strobe pearl
Strobe Beam
Clear with strobe pearl
Strobe Current
Sheer plum with golden red strobe pearl

Although reviews have people either raving or ranting on MAC Strobe in general, I think the only way to see how any of the MAC Strobe products fare for you is see them for yourself. My impression of Strobe Cream and Strobe Liquid will be put to the test as soon as I can get my hands on another camera (I'm in the dog house for losing my camera yesterday - I am sooo sad!). From swatches alone, Strobe Cream seems more user-friendly for my complexion than Strobe Liquid does even with minimal product application.

Are you of the cult that loves or dislikes Strobe Cream? If you're a Lip Conditioner disciple, will you be getting your hands on the Tinted Lip Conditioners released with this collection?

Aloha,
Mrs. Lynne

Oh no, you lost your camera???

How funny, I just posted swatches up too!

I'm not a huge fan of the cream and lotion, but one or two of the lippies is worth it.

Jenn said...

i've heard about how oily the strobe cream is, so i'll probably give it a miss. the strobe liquid looks great though, i love anything glittery! lol! and of course, the lippies is worth checking out too! :)

awww i'm so sorry about your lost camera. it sucks huh! dun feel so sad ya! hope you get a replacement soon! :)

I am loving the new look! So cute. So you. :)

I didnt like the Strobe cream or liquid in person as much as I thought... but the lip conditioner colors were amazing! I might have to snag me one.

Krystle said...

Thanks for the swatches. I actually checked the strobe TLC, but didn't care much for them. It just seemed like glorified fat chapstick with pearl. LOL.

I'm sorry to hear about your camera. Hope you find it soon, if not, hope you get another one real quick. I heard the Canon SD 1000 is a great camera and that it is being sold for a good price.

What did I do this weekend... I played tennis with the bf and enjoyed the weather! Today it got to about 72 degrees. =) Other than that, I did errands with the bf. I'm so boring. haha. Oh and I ate at Pizza My Heart (they opened one up in Valley Fair) for the very first time. I like their pizza, especially the sauce they use.

Hi Lani!

You get homie :) And thank you for the compliment on the blog.

Do you think you'll be grabbing something from Strobe?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Oh nilla cookie. It's a sad over here. Even though we had a love-hate relationship, I never meant of it to disappear like that :(

I tried the cream yesterday and I'm actually kind of liking it. For some reason is worked well under my makeup and wasn't discoballed like most people experience. Perhaps I was moderate on my application to not call the club over to my place. *shrugs*

Did you get any of the TLCs?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

I like the TLCs crazychick. But don't expect pigmentation as they are just tints. And I've heard so many things about Strobe and tried Strobe Cream yesterday and surprisingly, I like it. Who would have thunk?

Thanks for your condolences on the camera, heh. I hope I get a replacement soon too. Please tell Hubbo that for me so I can get off of my time out, lol.

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Aww, you're so sweet Ruthie! Thank you :)

After reading all the whacks about Strobe cream, I braced myself. The swatches were eh to me also, but when I actually wore Strobe Cream yesterday, I actually really liked it. Made my skin feel soft and it worked very nicely under my mineral foundation. Maybe it's just one of those "need to try" things, hah.

Which of the TLCs do you have your eye set on?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hey Krystle,

Yah, I can see how TLC resembles that, hah. I'm just a huge Lip Conditioner fan that I had to get one to try out. And since I don't like shimmer lipstick, I thought that the pearlescent on the TLC would suffice.

Oh, girl. Part of me is glad that I lost it, although I wish all my pictures were dl'ed, and another part of me is very hurt, since that means I don't have any documenting equipment. I have my heart set on a Canon for sure, but I was looking at the SD750. I would like an SLR, but as a replacement camera, probably not. I still need me a pocket camera. But once I get out of time out for losing the camera in the first place, then we'll see what I'll be lucky to get, hah.

Wow, 72 degrees, huh? That's getting better. And if running errands with your bf is considered boring, then Hubbo and I are just super dull boring since running errands is us being able to get out of the house, lol!

I think they have a Pizza My Heart by SJSU. I think Hubbo told me one time that him and his friends had a project for school and interviewed the joint and got shirts or something. Glad to know the pizza is rocking. But you know it is here. We'll probably get as close as commercials, lol! Why on earth do they do that! It's seriously not even funny, lol.

cute cute cute! the sight looks awesome sis :) i love how your sexy eyes are peaking over the top he he.

i think i'll pass on this line...i already have strobe cream and sometimes i just put it under my foundation for a glow...or even wear it by itself...gotta save up for heatherette!

I love strobe liquid and the lip conditioner..

I love the site.. Hotness

nilla cookie said...

Well honey, I hope your camera turns up soon.

I don't think I'm going to get the cream or the liquid - I don't like too much shimmer unless I'm going out - which isn't often, LOL. I'm sure it looks fab on you and you can take pics for us when that darn camera turns up!

I didn't get any of the TLCs yet, but I'm thinking about it. I've spent too much $ already :(

Xuanie said...

nice review! but i think personally for me im going to be passing on this line, nothing really excites me. Im pretty pale so the stobe cream is probably going to like wash me out totally. lol

Krystle said...

I actually own the sd750. haha. It was either that or the sd1000. The big screen and sleek curves lured me in. haha. With the 750, I wish the flash wouldn't wash out my pictures and I wish it had a viewfinder (for those moments when I can't use the screen, such as the beach). I still love my camera, but wished I didn't discriminate the 1000 because of its looks.

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Oh Sis Ren, thank you for the lovely comment sweetie! You play a huge part in holding me accountable to this growing site so I really need to thank you for keeping me going :)

I tried out the Strobe Cream the other day under my foundation and I actually like it. It's very nice.

Do you know already what you're interested in when Heatherette releases?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hi Mama Seymone!

I tried out Strobe Cream the other day and I actually like it. I was expecting super disco effect going on my face, but it really finished off nicely.

Thanks for the comments love :) I'm glad you're digging the new outfit here, heh.

How was your weekend?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Thanks nilla cookie, you and me both :)

Surprisingly, the Strobe Cream doesn't come off as shimmery as I was thinking considering all the raves/rants. But the Liquid does seem a bit intimidating. I tried the cream under my foundation the other day and I actually have to say I like it. And it wasn't disco'ed out or anything but a nice subtle glow.

Do you think you'll be getting anything from Heatherette?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hey Xuanie.

You are too funny girl! When I tried Strobe Cream the other day, it did tend to lighten up my skin just a bit. I actually like it considering that I'm tanner and have always wanted to be a bit fairer. But I can see how that may be unexciting for you, hah.

I tried leaving a comment on your recent post but Blogger was being boo-boo. But Denese is sooo cute. She is a total diva in action girl!

Hope your week is off to a great start hun :)

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hiya Krystle!

I actually don't use a viewfinder at all and rely only on the screen so that works perfectly for me. And have you tried working the settings on the camera about washing out your pictures? On my old Canon, I always used the 'P' mode so I can set my EV, flash, WB, and such. I'm a bit anal about accurate color especially when it comes to eyeshots but it's just all trial and error.

I will definitely check out the SD 1000 when I get out of time out to get a new camera. Thanks for the rec hun! How are you liking your SD750 so far though? And why would you consider the SD1000 over the SD750?

Xuanie said...

hello again mrs. lynne! yeah blogger been doing that to me lately too really odd! and i must say annoying!

OMG yeah Denese is such a diva, she loves it when people call her princess. lol

Karen said...

Girlfriend, what the heck happened to your camera? I'm sad for you - I'd shed a tear or two if I didn't have my surgically attached to my hand.

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Yes Xuanie! I second that in it being SUPER ANNOYING!! Lol. I even posted the situation in the help group and I guess the error code I got was just a connectivity error which happens when there are too many people.

Omg, that is sooo funny! Hubbo's little cousin's name is Anastacia and she is kind of full of herself. Like when the movie Anastacia came out, you can just imagine how big headed the whole ordeal was. I believe there was a time when she too wanted to only be called "princess". She probably still does, lol!

I forget, is Denese your niece? Or cousin?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Sis Karen! I am so sad yo! And you would think that since I normally DO have it surgically attached to my hand that I WOULDN'T lose it. Oy! I think that Alzheimer's is kickin' in early. It drives me currrazzy!

Elizabeth said...

thanks for the swatches!i'm lemming strobe blossom now! strobe liquid looks good but i dont wanna look like a disco ball!

Xuanie said...

lol kids are just too funny nowadays. Denese is my little cousin, but she lives with my family. its a confusing thing but as long as she is taken care of and happy and healthy you know.

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hi Elizabeth!

I think that Strobe Blossom and Kiss are right up your alley girl! They will go lovely against your skin. Do you think these will go for $30 in your hood?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

That's nice to hear that you folks are taking care of her. That is very loving and that's what family is all about. Especially when they are that young, they need reliable role models in their lives :)

So do you only have a sister or other siblings as well?

(g)ezebel said...

ooooh, thanks for swatching the strobe liquid. i was really curious about it. now i think i'll get it!

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

More power to you (g)ezebel! Do let me know how you like the effect of it!

Happy Thursday girl!
