Brushes: Where Do You Keep Your Makeup Brushes?

Aside from having a buttload of makeup, I also have more than a handful of brushes to assist. MAC is predominant in the brushes that I own and use although I do have some Sephora, Stila, NYX, and a few generics in the bunch.

So where do I keep everything?

In my handy dandy... MAC Makeup Toolbelt, of course! Found at MAC Pro Stores, MACPro.com, or by calling (800) 387-6707, ext. 8555, this retails for
around $40 USD (if I remember correctly), this lovely belt holsters nearly everything.

You see the MAs at the MAC Store wearing them but what exactly is the detail of the MAC Makeup Toolbelt (or Brush Belt)?

Although this sleek toolbelt looks like it's made of leather, it is indeed made of PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride). It's durable and easy to clean material allows for Makeup Artists alike to stash away more than brushes in this contraption.

This is what I keep in mine. From brushes to mascara to the oddly shaped eyelash curler to even my small spray bottle that I keep brush cleaner in,... have no fear, the MAC Toolbelt is here! (dun-dunna-na!) Looks like a lot?
I've been packing it since I bought mine in Summer 2007 and there's still more room for stashing - I kid you not!

This beautifully designed MAC Makeup Belt is made with the Makeup Artist in mind. The belt consists of conveniently sized brush holders to accommodate different size handles and to allow even the skinniest of brushes to stay visible and not slip through the loops. The belt is comprise of 4 rows of pockets. Either side of the belt has 10 brush holders (20 altogether), a pocket underneath each row of brush holders (4 altogether), and a middle column of pockets for extra nick-nacks, or brushes if you choose (4 altogether).

Attached to the adjustable nylon strap is a snap-close fasten for easy removal.

One of the things I like about it, is that since my bathroom is a hole in the wall with no counter space, I can easily hang it off the corner of my cabinet mirrors for easy access. (Yup, we ain't running outta toilet tissue anytime soon!)

Wow..like a total pro Lynne! Umm I keep my eye brushes in the little black clutch/case from the MAC Winter 2006 holiday brush collection. I keep my face brushes in a Sephora brush case. They've kept my brushes clean and safe from harm..lol.

Wow, that's pretty extensive! I just keep my brushes in one bag, also from MAC. I dunno if it has a special name, it's just long and narrow, made for brushes :)

And girl, I know where to go if I need toilet paper!

You have so many brushes!! and ahhh, I've always wanted the MAC pro brush holder!! until now, i always thought that the brush holder is exclusively for MAC MAs only!! which rock have i been under all this while?! *hides* lol!

i keep my brushes in a flat plastic file along with my other makeup... not that i have many to begin with! lol! :)

Wow! You have so many!! I have several wire pen holders that you get at office supply stores. I keep all of my brushes in one of those.

hey mama, nice brush collection! and i feel ya on not wanting to take a pic of your makeup collection. when I saw what I had, I was "doh" and Mr. Man was right there when I was laying it out and taking pics of it. he was like dang you have a lot of makeup. hehe. i personally keep my brushes in one of those pen holders, I have yet to get a makeup brush holder like yours.

as for my 80s inspiration, I went along the lines of one of my favorite cartoon shows from that era, Jem & and the Holograms. hope that helps.

Jaclyn Rose said...

p.s. and when I was done, Mr. Man said to me, you look like Kelly Kapowski (Saved By The Bell). Hope that gives you a visual. =)

Hop to it Mama, you got a week left. LOL

Great belt! I love it. I use bright colored Victorian jars to store my brushes in and I just recently converted one of the holiday cardboard tubes into a brush holder. Flipped it upside and bob's you uncle instant makeup brush holder ;)

that makeup tool belt looks awfully tempting, but i must resist! :P i keep my brushes in the enkore sephora-inspired holder. i see someone else mentioned it earlier. hehe. i also have the roll-up case from forever female. i think it's the same material as your mac tool belt.

Hey Stephanie!

I wasn't even born into MAC in 2006, hah! But that's what it's all about girl. Keeping them safe and clean.

What are your favorite brushes to use for the face and eyes?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hey nilla cookie!

You might need to come here fast though. We seriously go through toilet paper like it's rice. And it's not me - I'm a 3-square person ;) Hah.

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

I've come to pull you out of hiding crazychick! ;) Hah. But I didn't know either. A friend of mine told me to look for it at the PRO Store when I went, and turns out she didn't want me to buy it for her, so I just kept it for myself, lol.

After you get that 138, I'm sure your collection is soon to expand. I see it in you MAC future.. again, hah.

I'm getting you back Elizabeth! I remember your brush porn for your makeup class which I am still recovering from!

Whoa, $20! That has got to be the best deal for you girl! Good job! And you can always ghettofy it with a silver sharpie "MAC", lol.

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hey Kristen Elisabeth,

I know exactly what you're talking about! I have those also except now I actually office supplies in them, lol.

How's your Tuesday been so far? Gonna make it the rest of the week?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

I have a feeling that Hubbo would crack out the makeup probation jokes if he were to see my collection at full speed, lol.

And I like how you say "yet"! That's positive thinking :)

Thanks for the 80s tips love!

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

The belt is very sturdy Ren! I've even stuffed my paint pots in there before with some e/s pots, hah! I was in a rush and couldn't have tiny fingers in my gold ;)

How's the bridal coming along?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Ah, from you recent Heirlooms haul I presume :) I would like to keep it in jars sometimes but hard to do without counterspace.

What's happening this week girl?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

You have some strong will power Tracy. You must teach me. But I'll let you know that I'm a stubborn student, lol.

What are your favorite makeup brushes?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

If you're looking for the belt Xuanie, just from comments it seems like there is a good dupe for $20.

What brand of brushes do you have and prefer?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hey msnotty!

The MAC Toolbelt is awesome. It keeps everything nicely organized and has room for quite a bit of extras. What do you use to hold your brushes?

Krystle said...

Yup, this is definitely makeup porn!

I keep my brushes in a red cup. haha. I used to keep it in a square vase, but that vase cracked when I was moving. poop. oh wells.

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Sorry Krystle. I should have put a warning before the post "Caution: XXX-Rated Brush Porn"! LOL.

But girl, all that matters is those bad boys are kept safe. As long as they ain't stashed away in the back of some drawer like a mistreated #2 pencil, you're all good!

(g)ezebel said...

i MUST have one of those bags!!!

LOL at toilet paper! that's a lot of butt wiping there. :0P

Krystle said...

LOL I think you should have! Maybe the day you reveal your collection that should be the title.

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hey (g)!

The bags are very useful girl. Definitely find one for yourself! I've been told that there are bags the exact same minus the logo. So check it out and save $20!

Let's just say that I'm a 3-square TP user... hah.

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Oh Krystle. I don't even know if I have the heart to take a picture of my collection. I might spazz from what I "could have" done with the money :X Haha.

Hi I love your belt! Ive been eyeing a few brands, mac, sephora, urban decay. Hopefully u can answer my question... Can it be folded for easy travel?

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hi Anonymous!

It most definitely can be folded for travel. Although if folded, I would only do it in half just to keep the material in tact. It's also not bulky at all and can easily lay on top of your clothes (no folding necessary) if packing it in a suit case or duffle bag.

You can also buy a non-logo belt (handcrafted the exact same way!) for much cheaper if you're not worried about having an actual logo on it such as the MAC one that I have. I didn't know that there were cheaper dupes of it which is why I have the actual MAC one.

Hope that helps :D Let me know if you have any other questions, ok? Thanks for stopping in :)
