MAC Product Releases: Slimshine Lipstick Swatches

Slimshines are back in full effect and according to the MAC website, it looks as if these are now part of the permanent line as there is no little black triangle indicating a limited edition status. I did ask the MA today about their status and she said that they probably were limited edition. It didn't seem like she knew the answer off-hand so I think she said that because most releases tend to be limited editions. But in all honesty, I'm trusting the website to be accurate.

This collection definitely comes in a variety of colors extending from the pinks, corals, browns, and neutrals. The finishes range from creams to pearls to shimmery which are visibly apparent under good 'ol sun. Under normal indoor conditions, you just have to catch it at an angle. I think this is a good thing though for those that like the subtleness of those finishes.

I definitely wanted to grab a bunch as I started swatching, but only made out with Bare (yes, I went safe!) for fear that my lips would not take a liking to the formula. Being that they are permanent, I can always go back to grab others if the results redeem themselves worthy.

I did ask the MA about the staying power of the lipsticks as that seemed to be the big disappointment with these. And her response was that they do have a different lasting power than a regular matte lipstick due to the fact that these particular lipsticks are more moisturizing than your average lipstick. The creamier a product is, the easier it is to transfer it to things like cups, straws, etc... such is the case with the Slimshine.

The packaging is also a slim-tubing which hugs the product and keeps it in place. And because the product is much creamier, I believe this helps to keep the lipstick in tact versus coming in the regular bullet tubing which does have space between the actual product and the casing. If there is space, the more room this creamy product has to shift around. I don't think we want that happening :)

Colors I like:
- Grenadine
- Bare
- Intimidate
- Rock Out
- Scant (this reminds me of NYX's B52, just a sheerer version of it)
- Most Wanted
- Funshine
- Voile (this just looks like it could be fun to layer over different lip liners)

I think this is one product you'll really have to test out for yourself. It really is moisturizing though and for the gals that got the scaly lips as I do, this lipstick is feeling rather nice.

Grabbing this? Or waiting out for Fafi?

Aloha,
Mrs. Lynne

OOoh! Pretty, pretty, pretty! Damn, they all sound cool! I was wary of a color like Bare, because I have fairly dark lips (which is bizarre for someone as pathetically pale as me) and so most light lipsticks don't look right on me, or even cover my normal lip color. But this looks pretty opaque on you! Would you say that it is?

The MAs at Valley Fair said they were permanent! Thanks for the swatches. Even though I did play with them for a bit, I can always reference back to your website for swatches. yay! I really want Intimidate, but I shall wait.

Did you see any dragons dancing around today? ;)

I can't believe they're permanent! YAY! Now I don't have to rush out and buy them :D

Thanks for the swatches.

I like the look of Long Stem Rose.

MariahGem Hey girl! The Slimshines in general are fairly sheer overall. Pigmented but sheer. Definitely not opaque like most lipsticks. In the pictures above, I went back and forth a couple of times to build the color. You can kind of see the mole that I have on my lips through the lipstick, if you can find it, hah.

Have you ever tried MAC's Lip Eraser(Pro)? I heard its supposed to blank out your lip color so that you can wear lipstick for the color that it is.

Krystle I actually didn't see any dragons today! But I wasn't really anywhere where the festivities would be happening. I was at the mall when they opened, then had to rush to my son's dentist appointment. Then went home and stayed home. It was raining cats and dogs today!! We had a flash flood warning again.

I really like Intimidate! It's a beautiful color. I kept on looking at it but went with Bare because it's a nudish color that I can make use of all the time.

Julie Yup! You can now chill at home and get your homework done!! Lol, jk. But that does make it convenient for everyone knowing that you don't have to beat the crowd to get your hands on it.

Long Stem Rose is a lovely shade of pink. I wish I was a bit lighter skinned so that I could wear it.

Nilla Cookie I have a definite feeling you will love them both! When I was walking to the car, Rock Out really stood out in the sun. Not loud, just gorgeous.

Do you have any Slimshines from the previous release?

GRENADINE! I think that's the only one I'm picking up this time around. Bare's awesome, isn't it? :)

i'll be picking some of these up, since they do seem moisturizing which i need like you. how about when it comes off though, does it still leave your lips feeling okay, or do they feel scaly after? i kinda feel like that w/ plushglass.. feels good on my lips and a big after, but after its completely gone, my lips are back where they started =/ have you tried aquaphor for your lips? i'm liking it better than blistex now!

Ooh pretty!

And MAC's Lip Eraser you say? I have the same issue as mariahgem, highly pigmented lips! I usually love this because it gives me the lipstick look naturally but I can't wear light colors. I'd like to try the Intimidate and Ultra Elegant.

crazychick Hi there! Thanks for stopping on by :)

No problem for the swatches girl! Long Stem Rose is really pretty in person. They actually all are, it's just about finding a color that resonates with you, hah.

And thank you for the lip compliments. You're too sweet :)

Happy Aloha Friday crazychick!

Emilee I love Bare! I'm glad that I chose this as my starter color. You were really right about these. As time goes on, I will definitely be adding some more to my collection. It's like Lip Conditioner in lipstick tubing!

Happy Aloha Friday girl :)

mrslanielovesmac Hey girl! Funshine is really, really pretty. It looks like a nude but it has this peach tone to it. Very gorgeous.

Hope you and the ohana have a great weekend!

Lisa Yuuuup girl! Permanente :) Now you can grab it anytime.

Have a lovely weekend sweetie.

Ren That's a smart move sis! I so should have just waited until after since they are permanent. I kind of feel bad though hogging the space to swatch them then just jetting out the store without buying something, lol. And I was swatching as fast as I could too cuz the baby started to cry! Hah.

Bare is a great starting color. I really think you're lips will like the formula. It reminds me of Lip Conditioner with the way that it moisturizes.

Happy Aloha Friday sis!

Kae Hey mama! It's rather conditioning even after it's off. It's like the portable form of Lip Conditioner with properties like that of a lipstick.

I haven't tried Plushglass yet. I will eventually grab one from each line so that I can test each one to help out with better comparisons. I've just been so skeptical about lip-ANYTHING that I just avoid those purchases, hah.

I actually use Aquaphor all the time before I got the Lip Conditioner. It worked much better than Vaseline. Never really took a liking to Blistex. Just didn't work well for me.

How's the baby bump doing?

Nessa Thanks sis. Long Stem Rose is really gorgeous! I'm lemming Intimidate, Rock Out, and Most Wanted also. Oh, whatta do...

Hijabi Apprentice Hey lovely! MAC Lip Eraser is supposed to neutralize and erase the color of your lips. There are only two colors available, N27 & N37. I don't know the reviews on this product as I've never used it myself. But it could definitely be an option if you folks are interested. Have you ever tried using concealer on your lips? I know some ladies use concealer under as a primer and I'm sure it is possible to neutralize your lips as well by getting a lighter shade.

Hope that helps some, hah. Happy Friday love!

Oh, and the Lip Erase is a MAC Pro product :)

Nilla Cookie I love that it is really moisturizing. It reminds me of my Lip Conditioner. And it's great that they are permanent so that you can get them without the rush! Woohoo.

What's crackin' for the weekend?
