MAC Product Releases: Mineralize Powder Foundation, Strobe Collection, and Beauty Powder Blushes

I can't keep up with all the new products MAC is releasing! But here is some information to give you a taste of what is to come.

As many people are slowly jumping onto the mineral foundation bandwagon, MAC made sure to capitalize on this cosmetic headliner. Although it is not purely natural, it does contain better ingredients than those contained in regular cosmetics. I'm interested to know how the look and feel of this foundation plays out.

As far as Strobe Collection is concerned, its definitely a must-look for product if you're needing that dewy, luminous finish. I've heard it gives off a disco-ball effect for those of darker complexion, but I say don't knock it until you've tried it. Although I'm doing fine in the sheen department, I'm interested in the Tinted Lip Conditioner with Strobe incorporated into the formula. I can do shimmer on the lips, just not in an overdued glimmer fashion.

And I cannot even help but get a little excited for the Beauty Powder Blushes (I think I'm slowly migrating to a cheek fetish). Luminous pearl but with more color? I'm so interested!!

Any of these collections resonating with your heart?

Aloha,
Mrs. Lynne

Facts and Tidbits about this newest Foundation launch:

  • You can change the finish. Originally natural/natural matte, but the more you buff, the more satin-y the finish becomes.
  • Mineralize Powder Foundation comes with a sponge-top applicator, called the “capplicator”. It is a sock-covered latex sponge (same as sponges sold at mac) applicator. 2 replacement socks come with the foundation. The socks apply and blend foundation in to the skin softer and smoother. DO NOT use the capplicator sponge without the sock. It gets dirty and cannot be replaced.
  • Mineralize Powder Foundation a long-wearing foundation (6 hours)
  • Mineralize Powder Foundation contains wheat germ and vitamin E, which makes it ideal for dry skin. It has been posted that BE is not liked among the dry skin population. This is the opposite. It doesn’t cake onto dry flakes.
  • Both UVA and UVB protection.
  • Mineralize Powder Foundation tends to run darker than the MSFNs.

im interested in the Strobe cream but i don't want to break out,Is the strobe cream worth getting its $55 here! If you do get it do a review for me :)

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Agh! Are you serious? I can't believe you even buy MAC there, lol! Btw, how much does regular eyeshadow go for there?

I don't know if I'll be buying a tube of the cream, but I'll see if I can sample it and let you know :)

I read about these on Specktra earlier so I am super excited to actually see them in person. I am not a fan of MAC face stuff like their foundations, etc. because they are a bit too thick for me and cause me to break out, so I am hoping the loose powders will be different as well as giving the same coverage as mineral foundation now...

And regarding the smell haha, I don't really notice a smell in regard to mineral foundations (at least ones I've used), but perhaps it could be because I have been using them for so long...any odors I have smelled in the past were actually from my brush I purchased on the mineral sites, animal hair was yucky!

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Nessa I am too! I think I really want to stick to more fully natural stuff, but then I can't help but sucker into other face things.

Ew... the animal was smelling? Thaaat's not pretty! Lol. I don't know if it's because of when I start to oil up that the smell releases its scent or what, but it just smells like iron or something minerally and I feel like I've just rubbed my face against an anvil! Lol. I'll have to switch moisturizers and check.

Strobe Cream makes me look like a disco ball, so I'm not quite excited for it. It's a really pretty product when used in moderation, haha. Thanks for posting! It's interesting to see MAC branching into the mineral world.

And I'm from near LA. :)

MakeupByRenRen said...

hey sis,

i'm excited about the lip conditioners too...I have NONE from MAC and i'm excited to get ones with luminous something or other lol...and i'm trying to get more so into blushes so the beauty powders sound fab!

The Shades Of U said...

I am excited to see the beauty powder blushes but I am wary about the new mineral makeup even though it seems like a dream come true for a MAC addict and MMU fiend like me. Even though I am addicted to MAC's MSFs, eye and lip products, I am a MMU purist and the first makeup to touch my face has got to be the purest mineral makeup available with only 4-5 ingredients. I read in Specktra that the new mineral foundation will contain MMU and a few other ingredients, so I'm gonna have to pass. Also, I think the MMU is a bit expensive compared to the small mineral makeup companies I buy from. But thanks for the update! :)

Emilee Hi love! I haven't tried Strobe Cream but I have heard about the disco ball effect and that doesn't seem to play well with most people. I'm not really ready to put my face at risk with that but I am wondering how that works with the Lip Conditioner.

From LA, huh? What part? I'm more from up north, but actually used to go to LA all the time with friends (at one point or another, lol).

Ren Hey love! I really think you will LOVE the Lip Conditioners. Seriously, I hardly exfoliate my lips anymore because the LC has done such a great job on my lips.

I can second the cheek fetish! I think because I've been going more natural lately that I like to mix and match my cheeks for some action. I only have 3 MAC blushes so I'd like to up my blush collection... ah, another expansion is in progress, lol.

What is your favorite blush so far?

shades of hue Hey girl! You know, I am under the same impression now that I'm starting to migrate towards mineral foundation. I want to have a healthy barrier between my skin and the not-so-good products to avoid less absorption of the non-goods, hah. But I'm just wondering how the MAC Mineral line will feel in comparison to the more natural foundations out there.

What is your all-time favorite mineral makeup company? I'm liking the lightweight feeling of Buff'd. Just waiting for Jen to formulate my color :)

The Shades Of U said...

I really, really like Buff'd. It's one of the better finishes and textures of mineral foundation. Oh my, I have a LOT of favorites, but these are the REALLY good ones that I keep rotating and coming back to again and again: J.Lynne, Lauress, Meow, Dreamworld, Joppa, Monave, Valerie Beauty, Lumiere, Silk Naturals, and BE's Well Rested (the best mineral undereye concealer IMO). :)

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

shades of hue Silk Naturals is the one of what I've tried so far that matches me THE BEST. But it feels a tad bit heavy to me.

I will definitely have to step up my A-game to the mineral foundation lines you enjoy so much. At least slowly yet surely, hah. How long have you been going at the mineral foundation? What were you using before and what made you switch over?

Seymone said...

Hey Lynne

I am so excited for the blushes.. I love emphasizing my cheeks. Strobe cream is not for the chocolate diva, can I say ashy.. I really want to try the mineral foundation because MAC is good for having a good range of color..

Seymone

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Seymone Hey there girl! I've heard Strobe cream is not brown friendly. I definitely don't think I will be venturing in that direction, lol.

I'm interested in how the foundation looks and feels. I don't know if I'd actually use it though because I like using more natural foundation to act as a barrier. But curiosity is still won't stop me from trying it out just so I know ;)

What are your favorite products from MAC?

Hijabi Apprentice said...

I was excited about trying the strobe cream but after reading a) the disco ball effect and b) it not being brown friendly so I think I'll have to pass. You've got me lemming for the lip conditioner though :).

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

hijabi apprentice Hi! Long time no see. Glad to see you back.

Unfortunately for strobe cream, I'm almost turned away to even try it. I'm sure in very SMALL moderation it may work fine but I wouldn't put all my ducks in one bucket. I'm wondering if you were to have a 1:3 ratio with your moisturizer that it would lessen the luminous effect so that could be an option. I'd grab a sample though instead of buying the product.

Oh giiirl! The lip conditioner is heavenly! It's so moisturizing and my lips have never been better. To have a little shimmer mixed into it sounds like fun :)

How is your week going so far? Ready for the weekend? I know I am!

Hijabi Apprentice said...

mrs lynne: i've totally been to your blog DAILY LOL! i've just been lulled into silence with all of your fabulous posts laced lemming worthy products ;).

Anyhow, I think I will try Benefit's Highbeam for a glowy brown skin friendly look.

Alright so now you're making me take my crusty lips over to Nordy's MAC counter tomorrow for some lip conditioner!

I was ready for the weekend Monday LOL! Have a good one.

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hijabi Apprentice Aren't you a sweetheart tuning into me on a daily basis :) Thank you truly for the support sweetie. Means a lot.

I really think you will enjoy the Lip Conditioner. My lips are not the same without it and I don't ever remember using another product (other than this one I had MOONS ago) that works well for my particular lip issues.

You are too funny. I've ready for the weekend all week long also!

Do you have another favorite brand that you like aside from MAC?

Hijabi Apprentice said...

Mrs. Lynne,

I am really not a huge MAC fan (I knw gasp and clutch the pearls LOL).

I think MAC has great eyeshadows and I really like their Format blush but other than that MAC is just alright. I like Lancome and YSL for their glosses, bobbi browns eye makeup and LORAC tinted moisturizer. So I guess I don't have one fave brand but I typically find one or two things in a brand I heart and stick to them.

Oh and thanks to reading Nessa'a blogs I'm really getting into mineral make up again.

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hijabi Apprentice You're not alone in that choice girl. There are tons of people that have their hearts on different brands. For me, I prefer to stick to one brand (although it sometimes doesn't happen) because it's just easier for me. Call me lazy, lol! But I say if you find something that works, then stick to it because HG products are hard to come across.

I just started on the mineral foundation train. I've been wearing mineral foundation now for over a month and so far so good. No major breakouts but I just need to find a good finishing powder for the oils.

What mineral makeup companies do you gravitate towards?

Hijabi Apprentice said...

Mrs. Lynn,

I have just ordered from Pure Luxe and Silk Naturals. Shawnta has me lemming for Buff'd caramel foundation though. **le sigh**

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hijabi Apprentice Hey girl!

Let me tell you that I just LOVE Buff'd. The customer service there is amazing and her foundation is sooo lightweight. She actually just reformulated a couple foundations a smidge darker than Caramel since Caramel was very close, just slightly off. And what she reformulated came out perfectly!!

I actually tried Silk Naturals but for some reason I am just not digging the foundation. Shawnta agreed too and she prefers the lip products there. Silk Naturals was the closest (if not exact) to my color, but the feel of it just wasn't making me jump up and down.

I want to try Pure Luxe's primer. I've heard good things of it. But I really should get through all the junk I have first, lol!!

Do you do mineral eyeshadows as well, or just foundation?

Hijabi Apprentice said...

Mrs Lynne,

Okay first of all let me say I tried accessing your blog a couple of times today and the net kept taking me to some weird purgatorial page. I was so sad. LOL

I am so glad you told me about the caramel not being the right color! I'm about a shade browner than you so if it didn't work for you I know it won't work for me. Thanks for the heads up.

I started just lusting over the eyeshadows (especially the dupes!) but I ended up ordering eyeshadow, foundation, primer, concealer and something else that slips my mind right now. I'll let you know how I like 'em all.

Heck my mineral haul may make me re-open my beauty blog just to do a review!

Hijabi Apprentice Ah! Double identity, huh? Lol. ;)

Sorry about the glitch. I'm in the process of upgrading my layout and tried to test out my domain name but CLEARLY it wasn't working! I thought it would transition immediately. I'll probably have to go down a couple of days, but I'll give a heads up beforehand.

Caramel is actually very VERY close to my color. I'll actually email you a picture of me wearing Caramel so you can see for yourself. The two that she formulated for me are much better but she told me that a jump in the next shade after Caramel would have been too dark.

You should check out Shades of Hue (blogspot) for some really nice mineral eyeshadows that she buys from mineral companies. But I warn you now that I am not responsible for your wallet going crazy :P

Did you order all those (eye, found., primer, etc..) between Pure Luxe and Silk Naturals?

Hijabi Apprentice said...

LOL @ double identity! Well my hijabiapprentice is a *mostly* spiritual/religious day in the life of a hijabi blog while my macheriecoco is my girlie girl, hedonist, foodie, makeup and spa blog. So yes I live 2 lives LOL!

Yep I ordered all that between Pure Luxe and Silk Naturals. I just got a notification that the Pure Luxe has shipped already!!! yes i think macheriecoco blog may need to come out of retirement for this one ;). in reality though there are so many fab beauty blogs i'm not sure i'd have a lot more to contribute but we'll see.

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

Hijabi Apprentice We all lead a double life hun. MakeupFix is my second identity next to motherhood and wifey-hood, hah.

I think you should definitely un-retire yourself. You always have something to contribute no matter how many other beauty blogs there are. It sometimes is an overwhelming feeling when you think about all the other beauty blogs in this huge blogosphere of ours, but as long as you enjoy what you're writing about, then that's all that matters :) Plus, everyone is very friendly and willing to help one another out so I really find it a safe haven.

Btw, did you get the pictures I emailed you?

Hijabi Apprentice said...

Nope no pics yet. You can send them to either hijabiapprentice@yahoo.com or macheriecoco@gmail.com.

Thanks for the encouraging words!

Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said...

hijabi apprentice You bet girl! It's all about inspiration and encouragement around here.

You know what I keep thinking about? Lancome lipglosses. You now have them engraved into my mind, hah.

And I resent the pictures.
