Going to the store by myself hardly ever happens. I almost feel naked when I don't have to open the back-door to the truck and strap the kids into their carseats. I long for a peace of quiet time to myself yet the chance that I get it, I feel sort of empty.
So on this solo journey, and knowing full well that I had to make my overall trip quick, I figure I'd allow myself a tiny bit of time to peruse through the cosmetics aisle especially since Long's carries NYX on it's shelves. I occupied my time swatching lipsticks so I can get an idea of which colors in the NYX Lips line had no shimmer to it. Shimmer is a big no-no for my lip conditioner spoiled lips.
I found a few that fit into the "no shimmer" category:
Sierra - peach-toned nude
Thalia - lavender rose pink
Violet Ray - deep maroon
B52 - wine tinted nude (swatched to compare with Bravo)
Baby - shimmery baby pink (no-no for me)
Shakira - rose petal pink
Bravo - light brown nude

And despite the fact that I wanted to get all that I swatched (except for Baby), I had a strong talking to myself and only left the store with Shakira, just without the curly hair and belly dancing. I was in the market for a lovely touch of pink since I wanted to craft together a sweet Valentine's Day pink look.
And after it was all said and done, I looked at the clock on my phone and was out of the store within 40 minutes and only ONE makeup product. Although I was aiming for 30 minutes or less because who knows how Hubbo is handling the 2 tykes on his own, I justified my stay with the fact that this will probably never happen again for another month or so.
Well, Monday is here again! Time to defend the front for another 5 days. What gets you through your work-week?

you know sis, i love you dearly but you are KILLLIINNNNNGGGGG me with these NYX lipsticks! Hahaha! I guess it's payback eh? LOL. :] I LOVEEEE Shakira... I think I'll have to get that. I'd LOVE Baby without the shimmer. Bah. If find something similar to the coloring of Baby minus the shimmer, let me know. ;) I'm going to get my makeup Tuesday... yay!!! :D

Chris LOLOL!! You're welcome :) Baby is such a pretty color on the stick but it glides on with shimmer. I'll definitely be on the lookout. You know it! I'm looking for a lighter shade also.

man...i am missing out! how come my drug stores don't sell nyx lipsticks :( my lips are dry as we speak and I need some more lipstick cuz the color disappeared 4 hours into the day :(

Shakira is really something! I'm a sucker for anything duochrome or gold tinted.
I love how Thalia looks, I think I bought that long time ago because it looks very familiar but of course it fell out of the makeup bag and melted in this California heat.... :(

Nessa Thalia is GORGEOUS! It would look superb on you!! I don't know why I didn't just get it because after I swatched it I even said, "whoa, that's gorgeous!" lol.
And you know that if I'm in your area, we are soooo meeting! Next time you're here, we'll grab some grinds and shaved ice. But you'll have to help me babysit because I AM the babysitter, lol.
Julie Thalia and Shakira are very similar in which they belong to pinks. But Thalia has more traces of lavendar in it where as Shakira is more milky. Either way they're both LOVELY!!

I wanted to get Thalia on Cherry Culture but they're not in stock :( so I ended up buying them from nonpareil boutique where they dropped the price from $2.99 to $0.99. You are very welcome hun :) I'm so glad you were able to get Thalia! I have that one in my purse. It's my lipstick staple for sure!! And please don't buy the lipsticks if they are higher than $0.99. Because everywhere I've gone, I've seen them sold only for that :) Gotta save those couple of bucks for more important makeup purchases ;) Hah.
What other NYX lipsticks do you like?
I just started out my collection so I don't really have much. And when I order, I can only buy a few at a time cuz being a mom I can't spoil myself too much... hehe. Right now I have Frosted Flakes, Harmonica and B52 (my fave). I can't wear Harmonica alone so I wear it over B52 for a bit of shimmer. Pandora looked hot on you so I decided to order that and also ordered Indian Pink, Frappucino, and Goddess (inspired by another beauty blogger, forgot who tho) so I should be getting those soon, can't wait!!

I remember swatching Frosted Flakes before and not liking it much. I believe I saw a swatch on Harmonica but don't remember my thoughts on it. That would be funny if it was my swatch, lol. But I doubt it was :P
Pandora is a really pretty color but it's one that I can't wear full on. It's quite loud but with the right combination, it's very workable.
